We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Dunham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, how do you think about risk?
I live by a saying of “seek discomfort”. Staying in your comfort zone will hinder your success in a realm of infinite possibilities. When I was 10 I met my childhood idol Rob Dyrdek whom is a Skater turned Serial Entrepreneur, his drive creating brands and seeking new opportunities lead me down a path very early in seeking a life similar to his. A life where I can be everything my child version wanted & believing so sparked creativity at a young age, I created my first tee at age 12. Went on to creating senior shirts independently in high school off of youtube tutorials on how to design in adobe illustrator, when feeling ours were lacking in design. Sold a-little over a hundred of those senior shirts and realized i should pursue a career field in fashion / design. Since then I’ve gotten my degree and designed for some of the biggest celebrities and companies freelance as well as starting Boredom Kills, my current passion project. A brand that seeks to pursue my and my best friend’s childhood dream. Boredom Kills name was found in a note book from when i was 13 in middle school trying to come up with names that had both our initials in it. Boredom Kills name is a term for my life, I cant sit still, i am constantly learning innovating and evolving, I’m either outside building concepting or creating. At 24 years old i can say truly that, seek discomfort in order to grow. You’ll never outgrow who you are being okay with where you are.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I freelance product design for clothing labels and celebrity tour merch. However in the recent years i have pivoted my focus towards my passion project: Boredom Kills. A community i have built that brings my knowledge of fashion into reality, living my childhood dream. This clothing brand consists of years of mood boarding since I was 12, paying homage to my roots of Northern California & Skateboarding. My clothing brand has reached thousands as well as been featured on huge publications and celebrities world wide. Boredom Kills is my life told in fashion, and furthermore a muse for my everlasting growth of knowledge. Everything is sustainable, custom cut and sewn, worked on for months on end to perfect & brings messaging for things like mental health, and saving the planet! We even partnered up with a non profit that we donate proceeds of every order to fund their planting tree’s mission, so every time you buy a product 2 tree’s are planted !
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Deseo coffee, Khavi coffee are the two must stop coffee shops in the valley
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ll definitely shout out my brand Boredom Kills for keeping me inspired, Nick Lumarque for bringing my creative thoughts into the most insane visuals for my brand and my team of friends who support all i do no matter what. You grow more when you surround yourself with people who want to see you win.
