We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
The way I see it, there is only one way to live: intentionally. And one of the easiest ways to start living intentionally is by getting your weekly calendar dialed in. Life balance is about doing the right things at the right time. Life balance isn’t a fifty-fifty split. It is about being 100% present.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Brandon Smith is working to be a catalyst in the evolution of independent agents: In addition to his role as EVP of Development & Strategy at Glidewell, he is the founder of Producer Development Program and also co-founder of Insurance Agency Owners Alliance (IAOA), an association of 8,000+ agents who innovate and collaborate through events, webinars and more. Brandon has spent years motivating and inspiring audiences to get out of their comfort zone and to dream again. With his background as a Dave Ramsey Endorsed Local provider for Glidewell, Brandon honed his skills and helps motivate audiences who are just surviving in business rather than thriving.

With his engaging, and fun personality, Brandon connects with his audiences and delivers content that they can immediately use when they get back to their home or office. The 19-year industry veteran was recognized by Rough Notes Magazine as their cover agent in July of 2020.

He attended Southwestern University on a basketball scholarship and still enjoys hoops in his free time. Brandon is a die-hard Red Sox fan, loves coffee and Wi-Fi, and was once a line leader in second grade. Brandon, his wife Joy and three children (Avery 14, Boston 12, and Harper 10) split time between Gilbert, Arizona and Missoula, Montana.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First stop, lunch at Joes BBQ in Downtown Gilbert. Then we would hike flat iron. Day two, hang by the pool and head to Diamondbacks/Suns game. Day three head north, but not without stopping at Driftwood coffee first. Then off to Sedona, would have to take them to Slide Rock and a couple of great hikes. Day four, we would have to be sure to hang in the Arcadia area and hit up Provision. Spring training is always a blast, too.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shout out would be to my closest friend in the insurance industry, Grant Botma (Stewardship) and Nicholas Ayers (Better Agency). Their never ending support and encouragement has made all the difference. Not just in the business sector but in life. They have stood by me, encouraged me and believed in me every step of the way.
