We had the good fortune of connecting with Bree Deverill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bree, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
One of my favorite affirmations is ‘I give myself room for expression’. Since staying true to myself is important to me, to choose to create everyday is one way of expressing myself. When I create, I feel energized, at ease and grounded. It feels like I am sitting still within my universe, having a deep one-on-one dialogue with an old friend. That is why choose this affirmation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A blessing I recognize during the pandemic is the extra time gifted to me. I dedicate a lot of time practicing and learning. Be it a new online class, a new photoshop technique or using a new medium. As I mature my style and deepen the love of Art, it is essential to expand knowledge beyond the canvas. Just like life, my story continues to evolve and take shape organically. Day by day, I am creating new forms of art using paper cuttings, watercolor and digital photoshop. Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend is visiting AZ, the ‘Breezy’ itinerary will have a little bit of everything. Our week will start with exploring local attractions such as the Desert Botanical Gardens and Phoenix Zoo. We will then spend time shopping in Old Town Scottsdale visiting art galleries, then visiting SMoCA and enjoy a sunset view in the one and only Skyspace. Lastly, I will take my best friend to my favorite wellness resort, Civana, in Carefree. We will spoil ourselves at the spa, wake up to morning Yoga, lay out by the pool and end our day with a sunset hike. Of course, we will bring my pups along because it is a pet-friendly resort and they have a dog park for my canine kids to romp around freely.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people I have to thank but today’s shoutout goes to my husband, Jake. Especially during this time of ebb and flow, he continues to be my biggest cheerleader. He shows up at my shows, exhibits and supports me behind the scenes – ALL THE TIME. He also makes the perfect cup of coffee to kickstart my morning painting sessions. We make a great team and my art journey is so much more meaningful and enriched because of him.
