We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As Bruce Arians says..”No risk it, no biscuit” I think in life we need to take risks to level up in all aspects. We don’t thrive from our comfort zone or change. I’ve been taking risks since I moved to Arizona in 2012 more so than ever. I left Oregon on a whim with a friend that moved here with work and invited me to start a new life here. I didn’t have a job, no friends, no family, nothing. It was all new to me. I struggled. I was lonely. I didn’t make great money in the bank job I had been in for years. But I wouldn’t change a thing. Leaving home and struggling, learning, being uncomfortable and growing has made me who I am today. I can look back and be grateful for the things I have gained and lost along the way. The biggest risk that I have taken lately was this past year. 2020 was hard for everyone in many ways but I think people really sank or swam. I didn’t sink… I took this year to find myself. I slowed down and was able to find the things I loved and things that no longer served me. I met my future husband Ian Simon, owner of a popular women’s boot camp in Scottsdale called The Instabooty. I began to workout with him, grew in our relationship, helped him build his brand, helped coached and moved in together all while working my 9-5 at a local credit union. I would help run classes and coach 5 am – 9 am and straight home TO clock i. I wasn’t able to give 100 percent to training because I had other priorities. After 6 months of this and personal family matters that took me away from work for 2 months I came back to work for one day and decided to leave my day job. Deciding to leave my job and take a bet on myself was SCARY, no benefits, no paycheck every two weeks, everything that I ever knew was changing. My parents thought I was crazy. But if there was any time to bet on myself and do what I loved it was now. The day I quit I got online and got my certification to be a personal trainer. Fitness has always been my passion and how I connected with people on so many levels. With the support from Ian, my friends, family (after the shock set in lol) I was certified and ready to help The Instabooty full time and put my love and passion into a business with my hubby! In a short three months of my new career Ian and I were named top 25 Fitness Entrepreneur’s and Fitness Influencers In Arizona. I’ve been asked to lead a community fitness event for over 50 women, started a program “Fitt With Britt” that launched January 2021 with 20+ clients, partnered with Bumble, Fabletics, Peak Nutrition, and Reign Total Body Fuel, led a successful charity event with Make a Wish Arizona, and last but not least I have been able to launch the second location for The Instabooty. Ian runs our original location at the Studio Center Scottsdale off Hayden and Mcdowell and I started at Maximum Fitness off Pima and the 101 expanding our reach across the valley. A lot of my early success has come from Ian and the mentorship he has provided me. The support and encouragement he’s shown me has helped unlock my true love for helping people in a bigger way. He has opened my eyes to the bigger picture, allowing me to take a bet on myself and truly be happy. Our clients are amazing, our community is unmatched and I know this is just the beginning for us. I look forward to what risk comes next and how we will thrive.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others in the fitness community is my ability to build connections with everyone I cross paths with. Personal training is way more than training. If you can’t connect with your clients and build that long lasting relationship with others your turn over will be outrageous. I know that when people walk in the door I don’t see dollar signs, I see a person that may be in a dark place, be scared of a new gym, may be uncomfortable in their own skin… or so many other things. I see people that need a friend and someone they can trust. I connect, ask questions, learn and listen to our clients. It’s never easy to try something new, be “new” or “bad” at something, it’s freaking hard! But if you’re around people that uplift and encourage you, it’s always easier. That’s why I KNOW The Instabooty is built differently. These men and women are comfortable to be their true authentic self and have a safe place. They are always learning and adapting. They are able to thrive because we let them! Ian and I lead, and they follow by example. We show love, compassion and care. Together we are able to overcome adversity and anything life throws at us. We train hard and make our fitness family tough! We remind them that at the end of the day if you can get through an hour of mentally challenging workouts…. you can face whatever the day throws at you. It’s so much bigger than fitness and the workout.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Best Friends Visit:

Of course they would start their days at The Instabooty and come train. Earn your booze my friends!

My favorite brunch spots are Maple and Ash, Daily Dose, Montauk- if there are patios and mimosas, I’m there!

Happy Hours- Saltys, Loco Patron or Diego Pops- Tacos and margs and corn queso dip are a must

Bars- Roof Top Canopy Scottsdale you can’t beat the views and Maya Clubhouse is always a favorite.

Places to visit/things to do- lake days are unmatched, lake pleasant. Also, hiking Squaw peak and south mountain are great. But pool days and happy hours on any patio are my go to!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person I would dedicate my shoutout to is my fiance, Ian Simon. He’s my best friend, my biggest supporter/cheerleader, my hardest critic but also the one person who pushes me in ALL aspects of life to be my very best, even on my worst day. He spends more time and energy making sure everyone around him is great, knowing that if we succeed so will he. That selflessness in us both is what makes us great and sets us apart. The long days and early mornings are better with him, because I see the empire and community we are building for the men and women that trust us with their fitness journey. They are our friends…our family. We are all better together.
