Meet Caleb Riutta | SEO Professional | Web Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Caleb Riutta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caleb, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Most entrepreneurs have had the same issue: work-life balance. Instead of working 9-5, if you own a company many times, you need to work until the task is finished. This can cause you to work late and leave you too drained to participate in life. When your company is young and so are you, you will most likely have an unbalanced life until you have it running efficiently and with stability. The ‘balancing act’ has plagued me ever since I started my business (and before). In the beginning, I would work before I did anything else. Work came before hanging out, spending time with my family, and generally enjoying life. Now, I have learned that there are limits to how much I should work to keep my relationships healthy. Over time, I have realized that taking your weekends and unplugging is the best way to restore your balance. If you ask an elderly person what their ‘biggest regret’ in life was, I will bet that ‘not working enough’ isn’t on the list. It sounds cliche, but you only live once, so don’t grind it all away. Currently, my work life is unbalanced because I am running a full-time business and finishing up a master’s degree, but that is okay since I plan to go on vacation afterward.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Dusk Digital, is a digital marketing company that mainly focuses on bringing leads via Search Engine Optimization. A huge thing that sets us apart from our competition is that we will work on commission rather than just a fixed rate. This means a lot for smaller companies because they only pay for the lead if they successfully sell a job. I got to the place I am now business-wise by burning the midnight oil! I worked long days and weekends and set goals. Starting a business is not easy, but it gives you financial freedom. The biggest lesson that I have learned is that you must find a balance in life; otherwise, you will burn out. There are times when the duty calls, but when you have free time, then don’ squander it! I would like to see my company as a boutique agency that focuses on bringing a tailored marketing strategy. Also, if you are working 9-5 and want something more then start a business!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Phoenix is actually a very diverse city, two hours to the north, we have good skiing, and then if you drive 3-4 hours south, you can go to Mexico. If someone were visiting Phoneix, I would send them to hike the Bright Angel Trail at the Grand Canyon, Fossil Springs, and then Flat Iron in the Superstitions. For food, we have many options–but perhaps the best is Mexican food. Literally, most of the niche hole-in-the-wall Taco shops are good! But if I only had one pick, I would send them to Salsita’s.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out to my two babies as they remind me that there is a wonder in life. On a professional level, I would like to shout out to my friend Tyler Hull (Modern Exterior) because I love to see young people crush it early in their careers. Last but not least, I am grateful to all the teachers at the university that have made an impact by inspiring me to go to the next level.
