Meet Candace Devine | Songwriter/Singer/Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Devine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candace, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think in my heart of hearts, I have always known that I would always keep going. I did quit music one time in my life for a short period after having my son.
Although I really did leave it behind, music still found me. I’ve never questioned it since and will never give it up again. It’s the one thing (next to my family) that fills my soul the most. I could never give up on something that brings me so much joy again. So my advice would be, if your passion can’t quit you and you don’t want to quit it, don’t.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My music/career is so much a reflection of all the pieces of me: my life, my thoughts, and my experiences. As a songwriter, I often draw on my own life experiences and the relationships with those around me as inspiration for the songs I write. What I want the world to know about my story is that it’s never too late for a good idea. If music is your good idea, I say go for it. If starting a production company or a music festival is your good idea, go for it. Doesn’t matter when or where you start, just as long as you do. I’ve always operated without fear of trying things or learning new things. I believe in hard work and the spirit of human will. Dreams do actually come true when you work fearlessly toward them. And what you may not know how to do today, you’ll have one day more of experience in tomorrow. That’s me in a nutshell.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Prescott. Fortunately, people come to visit all of the time. Some of my must-have stops to see taste and hear are:
The Highlands Center
Watson Lake
The Raven Cafe
El Gato Azul
Wild Iris
Camp Grounds Coffee
Gray Dog Music Store
Peregrine Book Company

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family. My incredibly loving and supportive husband, Dj. My son, Bodhi, who is my universe. My wonderful and beyond magnificent parents who have always supported and championed my dreams. Also, my extended and chosen family that are so consistently generous and supportive of all I do. I have also been very lucky in business to have people in my circle at Further West and my magnificent agent and friend Chyna Chuan Farrell at Paladin Artists. They support my vision and dreams in all the projects I am working on and the support is invaluable. Lastly, but certainly not least, my bandmates in Ponderosa Grove. Making music with those fellas is the utter best!
