We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie-Anne Oliver and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carrie-Anne, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The idea of success can be viewed in may different lights. Reaching a place of contentment and joy, with ease, would be the most important aspect of our evolution or success. It was a vision that unfolded daily that guided us to where we are now. Add that to genuine interactions with our guests, sharing our visions and our creations with them has manifested a truly magical place. We don’t look at Tierra Madre Vineyards as a job. It’s a living, breathing experience that we wholeheartedly love to share and make our guests feel part of.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The life I’m living right now and continue to live is my true master piece. Creativity is part of my daily life, and I incorporate it in every aspect from my home, with my clients & guests, my garden, in my cooking, and in heartfelt conversation. I’ve let go of the notion of having to prove anything any longer as I did early on in my career.
As I reflect on my path I can could write a book on all the challenges and constant hardships I faced. When you’re in the midst of them it’s hard to see that shiny pearl, but I always felt in my heart there was something greater ahead. I never allowed myself to stay in dark for too long. There was a perseverance that just resonated, that kept me going on this journey one step at a time. With that eventually came wisdom and grace. We will always be faced with challenges but it’s how we see them that makes the true difference. Do we succumb or allow these moments to be our impetus for new inspiration?
What Im most proud of today is bringing to life a magical space and experience for our guests. It just fills my heart to hear and see how Tierra Madre Vineyards B&B has brought a sense of joy, wholeness, and healing to their lives. They leave renewed and inspired, and that’s the greatest gift I think we can give one another — the inspiration to create. That is true art!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being that Young is one of the most rural towns in Arizona I’d have to look at the idea of “the best time ever” in a different light. Nature would be the playground, enjoying the quiet times and spending quality time together.
We’d definitely enjoy eating and sharing some wine here at Tierra Madre but would also visit Bruzzi Vineyards for more wine and food, as well as the historic Antlers Bar and Grill. We’d do some amazing hiking trips to nearby Indian ruins, swim at our secret swimming holes, check out the local waterfalls and scenic overlooks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Life itself deserves the biggest shout out! All of its experiences and interactions shape the very path we find ourselves on in this moment. It’s constantly inspiring new desires to play with, create, and evolve into reality if we take opportunity to notice them.
