We had the good fortune of connecting with Chandrika Sarva Kanti Breathwaite and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chandrika Sarva Kanti, how does your business help the community?
Krishna’s Home: A Unique Assisted Living Community

Krishna’s Home is an exceptional assisted living residence dedicated to serving Krishna devotees within the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). This is the only assisted living home that fully embraces a devotional lifestyle, providing a holistic environment centered on spiritual wellness, vegetarianism, and yoga-based practices.

Residents at Krishna’s Home follow a vegetarian diet and abstain from all intoxicants, including caffeine, to maintain clarity of mind and spirit. Daily activities are designed to foster a deep connection with God through devotional practices. Residents engage in heartfelt chanting (kirtan), participate in art and crafts related to festivals, and read sacred texts, such as the Bhagavad Gita and the works of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, to nurture their spiritual understanding and focus.

Krishna’s Home also offers residents the opportunity to visit the local Hare Krishna temple regularly. Additionally, the home has its own temple, where daily kirtans and readings are held, creating a sanctuary for residents to engage in devotional service despite any health challenges they may face. I am also a Yoga instructor and the residents do regular Chair Yoga

At Krishna’s Home, spirituality and service are the foundation of daily life, helping residents transcend ego and stay connected with Krishna. This nurturing, spiritually focused environment truly supports the body, mind, and soul, making Krishna’s Home a vibrant part of the community and a place where spiritual well-being is paramount.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A Life of Yoga, Dance, and Devotion

My journey into yoga and classical Indian dance began in India in 1987, leading me to join the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) shortly after. Since then, I’ve taught yoga, including Chair Yoga, in London, Los Angeles, and Nevada, where a doctor even prescribed my classes to wheelchair-bound patients for their therapeutic benefits.

Alongside yoga, I’ve shared classical Indian dance at ISKCON festivals and continue to direct dance-dramas at the Tucson temple, bringing art and devotion together in service to our community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Origins of Krishna’s Home: A Sanctuary for Devotees
Krishna’s Home was inspired by Caruhasa Beathwaite, a revered artist from the early days of the Hare Krishna movement. Known for his beautiful illustrations of sacred texts, including the Srimad Bhagavatams Caruhasa’s artwork graces the walls of temples worldwide, touching the hearts of countless devotees.
Eleven years ago, Caruhasa suffered a stroke, sparking the vision for a dedicated assisted living home for Krishna devotees. Krishna’s Home was created to support and care for devotees like Caruhasa, providing them with a nurturing environment where they can continue to engage in their spiritual practices and devotional service.
Today, Caruhasa resides at Krishna’s Home, where his presence reminds us of the legacy and devotion that inspires this sacred space. Krishna’s Home honors its residents’ lifelong commitments and offers a community grounded in spiritual support and love.
