Meet Charisse Crump | The Rise & Shine Talk Show Host & Pastor’s Wife

We had the good fortune of connecting with Charisse Crump and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charisse, how does your business help the community?
The Rise & Shine Talk Show with Lady C, was created to provide a safe space to uplift and encourage the world! Within social media platforms, it can be full of negativity, competition, and unhealthy opinions which at times can be at the expense of others.
As a Pastor’s wife I see first hand that many are suffering in our world today, who need ENCOURAGEMENT to keep going! Many are facing the pressures of life, parenting, relationships, marriage, employment, financial, grief, divorce and health challenges. I wanted to use my platform of influence for powerful testimonies of how my guests transitioned to Victory in their life through their Faith.
The Rise & Shine Talk Show format is designed to have a different conversation that focuses on Healing, Hope, and Faith! The Rise & Shine Talk Show with Lady C provides Uplifting, Informative & Empowering interviews on Life, Faith, Family & Ministry and much more from a Pastor’s Wife Perspective!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I was in high school, I had wanted to become a News Anchor! I decided that radio & music was a better fit, and I started a career in radio right out of college! I relocated to Dallas, TX where I worked at ABC Radio Networks. Unfortunately, my living situation where I was invited to live, was unstable, unpredictable and very unhealthy. I was forced to attend a church where the Pastor exhibited no boundaries, was manipulative, controlling, and inappropriate with the female members.
The Pastor exploited members and was emotionally abusive and a bully in and out of the pulpit. The person I resided with was like a big sister to me, and a mentor, whom I greatly admired. Sadly, I began to witness the excessive devotion to this charismatic Pastor, which left her and the other women in the church perpetually strapped financially, spiritually and emotionally. I was young, but I knew that God was not a God of confusion and disorder. I was reminded of 1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
Sadly, I had to make a hard decision to resign from my dream job at ABC Radio Networks, and return back home and start all over again. I felt like a complete failure, and I declared that I would never be a part of a Church community again. However, God had a plan! I was in such a place of anger, disappointment and hurt.
I worked many years to re-establish myself, relocating to California, and Prince George’s County Maryland, until my final destination of Columbus, Ohio. I had worked for more than 25 years in local government. Yet, I still had a dream.
I grew professionally, personally and spiritually. I felt God calling me to a higher purpose in service and I accepted my call into the Ministry, and graduated from seminary with a Master’s in Pastoral Care and Professional Counseling. I had no idea how beneficial this degree would enhance my life and ministry, as it prepared me to lead, have crucial conversations, counsel and minister to many hurting souls. My experience of an abusive and cult-like Pastor gave me insight and sensitivity to those who experienced manipulation and abuse from church leadership.
I never imagined being a Pastor’s wife! Yet, I still had a desire and dream to one day return to radio to have a different conversation. After 28 years, and in 2022, the door of opportunity swung open! I was ready, prepared and equipped to produce and host my own talk show. As a Pastor’s wife, I was keenly aware that the Church was not having enough conversations on the issues of life, un-resolved trauma, and matters of the heart. I knew I had to facilitate these conversations in the Church on healing.
The lesson I learned is to never ever give up on your dream! Start with what you have, trust God and He will make a way! Always believe in yourself! So what if someone else is doing what you desire? You can do it too in your own special way! I have learned to be real, and be authentic. Be confident and know what your assignment is! I know that every audience is not for me, and it’s okay! God has specific assignments for each of us. Also, never compare yourself!
As a young woman, I struggled with my self-worth. I never felt good enough, but I learned to accept myself, embrace my flaws and walk with my head held high. I was told by a person who I really admired that I would never be successful. They hurt me to the bone with their words. I learned that I am more than good enough! Due to my pain, it is my desire to encourage others that they are worthy and that their life matters. I have learned that some people are on assignment to kill your spirit and your dream! I never lost my hope! Don’t you lose your hope!
The Rise & Shine Talk Show is a faith-based talk show where we have various conversations on faith, life, relationships, marriage, mental health, entrepreneurship, women in ministry and a host of other topics! I interview Stellar Award Gospel Artists, Community & Faith leaders across the United States to learn about their story and how they made it! The Rise & Shine Talk Show is a safe place where you may cry or laugh, but you will be encouraged!
The Rise & Shine Talk Show promotes hope and healing to the Body of Christ. God has been so faithful to me. I have a responsibility to give back to this world and spread the good news of Jesus Christ! You may not be accepted by your family, your peers or even your community, but know that God has a plan for your life! My favorite scripture is, “With God All things are Possible!” Matthew 19:26
God will take your pain and turn it into PURPOSE!! Trust the process and wait on God! I am different. I am set apart, and I am grateful for that! I believe that every day, we are to Rise & Shine!
