We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlie Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charlie, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I’d be lying if I said the thought of giving up never crossed my mind. With long days and nights and a work load so taxing on myself and my family, often times giving up seemed like the right thing to do.
I owe my resilience and perseverance to a number of factors. Number one and most foremost being my faith in my lord Jesus Chris. Without my personal relationship with God, I would have given up a long time ago. Next is my supportive and loving wife Kimiesha Jones. Not only is she part owner of our company Love Jones Productions, she also serves as my best friend and first love. Her support enables me to push through any and all obstacles, no matter how great they may seem.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art manifest itself through photography and filmmaking. I started off as a photographer and gradually learned the skills to become a filmmaker. I first got into documentary work, with my first notable original project titled “The Care Project”. The Care Project was a concept my wife and I developed to help serve one of the most overlooked populations in our country, the homeless. With our own money we created care packages that consisted of bagged sandwiches, toiletries, and bible quotes. We decided it would be a great idea to document the impact of the project. What we learned through filming was many of the homeless population were not necessarily homeless, more so then they were houseless. These individuals formed their own communities and looked out for and supported each other, even when the government turned away. This was during the height of the pandemic. This was my first real documentary and what I learned about myself was everyone has a story to tell. I embarked on a journey to do that thing. Documentary after documentary I captured peoples stories and filmed them. My ultimate goal is to one day tell my own story. That is what I am currently working on.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
By far the most fun my family had was in downtown Phoenix. Specifically by the Arizona Center. We enjoyed the food and scenery so much that many of our clients we did photoshoots for we’re done there. We 10/10 recommend the Arizona Center for all your food and creative needs.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I need to give all glory and honor to God, who is the head of my life and household. Without the solid foundation of my faith, I don’t know where I would be. Next is undoubtedly my wife Kimiesha Jones. She is part owner of our company Love Jones Productions and without her expertise and creativity our company would not be anywhere close to where it is today.
