We had the good fortune of connecting with Chauncey Edmonds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chauncey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Sports has always been a huge part of my life and I wanted to find a lane that was best for me. I felt like I had a wealth of knowledge that I wanted to give back to athletes that were looking to become professional. Creating a sports agency was my way to make contributions to the world of sports.

What should our readers know about your business?
Reign Supreme Sports is a sports management company that represent athletes with the opportunity to grow through branding, marketing and the new system of Name, Image, and likeness. We align our clients with industry leaders to create meaningful partnerships, build brands and ensure success and financial prosperity through their name Image and likeness. We offer services from certified contract agents for the NCAA, NFLPA, XFL and USFL.

I am most excited about the new landscape of sports and how athletes can take advantage of monetization through NIL. What sets us apart as the Supreme Team is the way we approach modern day athletes and how we respect their journey as a champion. For a long time, athletes were used for their talent and after an injury or lack of playing time they were left to fend for themselves, which is why so many athletes are depressed after their playing days. We offer mental health performance to athletes to help them work through barriers. After an athlete is done playing, they will still have an identity that brings confidence from being a client of Reign Supreme Sports.

I got to where I am today by default of having a tremendous amount of knowledge of sports. I always wanted to give back to the world of sports but I did not know where I wanted to make my contributions. As a coach, I was asked by parents and players about the new information of recruiting and NIL and I realized that the education was lacking due to the new rules and bills that were signed through legislation. I did not want to pass players on to others anymore so I took the proper steps to become a CEO of my own sports agency.

I had a regret that tugged at me for years before I started the process as a sports agent. I knew my twin brother and me (Seaun) was an influence on our younger cousins. 2 in particular followed our route and played football, Mar’Quone and his brother Mar’Quezie Edmonds. We were never able to assist them in a professional way through football and with that, I never got the chance to represent my younger cousin Mar’Quone Edmonds as he entered the NFL draft in 2012. After that I wanted to make myself available for football players professionally that I knew personally or had ties to.
I then went back to school to complete my educational goals. I received my Bachelor’s degree in sports management from Grand Canyon University and I received my MBA from Concordia University of Chicago. This allowed me to qualify for the NFLPA agent test. I did not want to cut any corners when it came to learning as a business man and I am proud of the goals I’ve completed. At times when I was tired, I looked up to the blue skies and that help me out tremendously (Keep your head up).

This journey of starting a business is not easy at all. Some things that helped me was to connect with likeminded people who had similar goals. One key is to have people around you who is willing to encourage you and share success. It’s frustrating when you have to compete for success with people who is supposed to be your support. I was able to find inspired people to study with during the NFLPA testing.

During Superbowl Weekend last year I attended an event. I spoke to Rich Paul in passing and I asked him for one piece of advise since he had a successful sports agency with the biggest athlete in the world Lebron James, his advice was “You can’t build Rome in one day”. I’ve found a way to reflect on that at times. If I have any advice for anyone that is starting a company would be “If you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far go together”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday- I would start the week off by getting some exercise by taking them to Arizona state University campus. There is a nice trail/mountain to hike called the “A’ mountain. Once we finished, we would take a stroll on Mill Ave to grab a bite to eat. Later that night we would head to Doc and Eddy’s in Tempe for food and drinks to catch the Monday night football game.

Tuesday-I would take them to Scottsdale Fashion Square mall to shop and catch a movie at Harkins theater. After a day of shopping, we can go to Chelsea’s Kitchen in Phoenix.

Wednesday-We can play basketball at Kiwanis Park in Tempe to build up an appetite. Later we can head to Tempe Marketplace to eat at Portillos and relax by the outside fireplaces.

Thursday- We can get up early and drive to Sedona to experience the Jeep tour. Take a stroll downtown Sedona and grab a bite to eat. On the way back stop at the Anthem Outlets.

Friday- We can start the day off at Wild horse casino and head to the chandler mall after that. Grab lunch at Filiberto’s for some Mexican food. Finish the night off with drinks and music at Sandbar grill in Chandler.

Saturday- Take a hike at Camel back Mountain for the gorgeous scenery and relax for the rest of the day. Saturday night I would take them to Oldstown Scottsdale for more drinks and music.

Sunday- I would start the day off with brunch at Sugar Jam. Later in the day I would go to Westgate for more shopping and end the day with finishing a place for a bite to eat there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank God for keeping me. Next, I would like to thank my family and friends for the all of the support. It’s so many of you I’m not gonna set myself up and leave anyone out. You all know who you are. I truly feel like I’m blessed with the best circle. Sports Management World Wide for helping me guide my steps during this journey. Last but certainly not least, I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my Mother Faye Edmonds whom we lost this year. Thank you for all of the love, encouragement, and support over the years. Miss you!
