We had the good fortune of connecting with Chidera Angelina Nwankwo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chidera Angelina, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued my creative career because I want to have freedom and stability. With my own business and being a content creator, I have the freedom to have a steady income while still being able to take care of my family. I have two little ones and no childcare. Everything I love to do and that I am interested in involves business and an online community, so I thought, what if I had my own?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My type of art personally is being able to create a platform for myself online. What sets me apart from others is that I always care about my audience. If what I post online is not going to uplift or encourage someone in their life, then I do not want to post. It is okay to post selfies of course and life events, but professionally, I want the business side of things to always involve something that is for the betterment of others. I am currently going to school online for my bachelor’s in business with a Marketing certificate, I graduated high school in 2013, and I used to model for free frequently. I decided that modeling was fun, but not really the type of lifestyle I wanted. I started to look more into YouTube and how you have the freedom to create what you want in your own time. Building an audience on YouTube allows you to get monetized and get paid for your OWN creative work. You can also do something similar on Instagram and TikTok. Starting to build my audience on YouTube has not been easy, but I genuinely enjoy doing it! You must be consistent and make quality content. I was also kind of camera shy when I started even though I have been modeling since I was 12 so this kind of surprised me. To overcome these challenges, I remind myself that this is my passion, I was meant to do something creative, and if billions of other people are doing it, I can at least try. The lesson I have learned is to not care so much about what people think about you whether it is bad or good because it is your life, not theirs. Also, to take everything as a learning experience that you can grow from. My brand is about not belittle yourself for others and follow your heart. We only have one life to live, so live your life in your style.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have not been out in the city much myself because I just moved to Arizona this year, so I really don’t know the best spots. From what I do know, if my best friend was visiting the area I’m in I would first take them to get breakfast burritos at Filiberto’s Mexican food, they have the biggest breakfast burritos I have ever seen in my life and they are delicious! We would then hang out at a park nearby that is very shaded and has nice scenery. We would then grab a bite for lunch. At night I would take them to the Sundowner Saloon. The bar has a live DJ with a dance floor, pool tables, food, and a nice outside seating area with a fire pit. The nest day we would go to the desert to hang out out on the land that my family has to decompress and enjoy the outdoors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my partner Johnathon Oliver for always having my back, loving me, and encouraging me to pursue my dreams. I also want to give a shoutout to his father William (Bill) Oliver for supporting our decision to move to Arizona together. He owns land out here and is allowing us to be part of the creative process of making the land our own for us and our family (homesteading). Another shoutout to my two little ones, Benjamin Oliver & Ariyah Oliver, I love them so much and love being their mommy. They motivate me every day to keep going because everything I do is for them! My immediate family and my in-laws have always been there for me before moving to Arizona so I cannot forget them. Most of my teachers, coaches, friends that have supported me in what I do also deserve a shoutout, they know who they are. Lastly, I thank God for giving me strength and patience through everything that I go through, I live faithfully through God always.
