Meet Clare Tinnion Owens | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Clare Tinnion Owens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Clare, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I originally opened an art gallery in my hometown of Rochester, Michigan. I wanted to inspire local artists and give them opportunities to make a name for themselves. When I moved to Phoenix, Arizona I still pursued my passion by working with local interior designers to produce custom artwork for commercial and residential settings. In addition to creating custom artwork, I am also an art consultant. I love creating and sourcing paintings that become the finishing touch to a perfectly curated space. My goal is to spread joy with my artwork, one painting at a time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My Process I focus on shapes, texture, and color to evoke emotions. Painting with large, quick strokes using acrylic paint and different varnishes on canvas. My subject matter varies from abstract color fields to contemporary organic shapes. As I paint, I let my feelings within guide the brush until the personality of the canvas is unveiled.
My Medium
Working in Acrylic medium most of my life, encaustic is my new love. I am constantly exploring new techniques with translucent layers fusing the bees wax, damar resin and embedding different materials to create smooth and textured surfaces. I started with small mini paintings, growing into larger formats as my technique developed.
My Inspiration
I love the Arizona landscape and often find inspiration from spending time in nature. When I am seeking direction, a visit to the botanical gardens is always top on my list. Although custom artwork is my forte, I continue to explore and create original works on canvas. Expressing my feelings with color is the way I will leave my mark on the world.
