We had the good fortune of connecting with Cydnee Pedler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cydnee, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
As a bottle artist, what truly inspires me is the transformative potential of discarded glass bottles. Each bottle carries a history, a story that resonates with me. The inherent beauty of glass, its clarity and ability to capture light, feels like its own form of expression. It’s as if glass has a silent language, and through my art, I aim to amplify its voice and share it with the world. Every interaction I have with people fuels my creativity – the smiles, the conversations, the connections – they inspire me to craft pieces that not only adorn spaces but also bring unique joy to those who encounter them. My work is a testament to the remarkable ability of art to bridge gaps and spark positivity, and I’m dedicated to allowing glass to speak its eloquent language through my creations.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey as a repurposed glass bottle artist has been a path of growth, challenges, and unique discoveries. What truly sets me apart is my commitment to utilizing every part of the bottle, ensuring minimal waste while creating my art. This dedication to resourcefulness stems from my belief in preserving the essence of each bottle’s history and transforming it into something new and captivating. My artistic evolution has been anything but easy; it’s a process that requires time, dedication, and perseverance. Along the way, I’ve learned to listen to that inner voice that encourages rest, after experiencing an accident that reminded me of the importance of taking one’s time to craft each piece meticulously.

I take pride in producing pieces that bear the mark of careful craftsmanship, distinct from factory-made items. It’s a reminder to my clients that patience results in a more exceptional, bespoke creation. Collaborations with local businesses hold a special place in my aspirations. I aim to see my art become the face of my brand, and I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with businesses, no matter their size, to provide them with repurposed glass pieces that resonate with their unique identity. My journey is about more than just my personal story; it’s about creating connections and crafting meaningful art that holds a story within every curve and facet. The road I’ve traveled has taught me that perfection takes time, and the mark of a true artist is the ability to blend patience, passion, and creativity into each extraordinary creation.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d ensure they had an unforgettable time exploring the diverse and vibrant areas of Arizona. To start, I’d recommend an elegant dining experience at Wren and Wolf, a hidden gem in downtown Phoenix, perfect for celebrations. The outstanding food and unique atmosphere would set the tone for a memorable trip. For breakfast, a visit to a delightful spot in Old Town Scottsdale, where they can enjoy scrumptious dishes before strolling through the local shops along the strip, would be a great start to the day.

Given Arizona’s beautiful weather, I’d suggest picking a hiking trail to embrace the natural beauty of the state. The breathtaking Arizona sunset and sunrise are not to be missed, creating lasting memories against the stunning backdrop. Arizona’s rich cultural diversity is an opportunity to explore Native American Indian and Hispanic influences, which are integral to the essence of the American West. Science museums and expansive nature preserves like the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and the Sonoran Desert offer a deep connection to the state’s heritage and landscapes.

Throughout the week, my friend and I would immerse ourselves in the laid-back and culturally rich atmosphere, experiencing the variety of flavors, landscapes, and activities that Arizona has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to express that many of my ideas from from my very own clients, family members and friends. As well as another glass artist named Christoph Rogalla who owns Rouge Candle Co. He sells 100% soy wax candles in Napa, CA & Paso Robles, CA. Chris had been someone I’ve looked up to for many years. He is a kind soul who has gone thought alot but has shown his followers the good and the bad. Chris makes candles out of bottles and I make drinkware out of bottles. It might seem like the same thing however we have differen’t styles in our products.

Im sure he doesnt even realize how much hes impacted my life as an artist. I’m not afraid to ask for help or even run something by him. He is someone who wants to see others reach their goals and their dreams too. That means alot to me as an artist. The artist world can be lonely at times. I also want people to know that if I have ever asked them a question about a bottle or an idea that I had and I wanted their opinion on the idea I want them to know just by some of those conversations and bouncing ideas around it has given birth to some amazing new ideas for peices I have created.
So I never want anyone to think that I don’t listen or want to talk about things I’ve done or havnt tried and why. That’s the fun part is hearing what others have to say about a possible idea for a bottle.
