We had the good fortune of connecting with Dane Jevtic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dane, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in small town Indiana, where there wasn’t a whole lot to do as kids. At the same time that pushed my friends and I to be a little more creative. From a pretty young age we began making little “short films” for fun. It was always fun to look back at those movies and laugh at how horrifically terrible they were! And I believe that’s where my desire to create came from. The only difference is, now that I’m older, I can actually invest in myself and pursue the things I’m really passionate about. For me, that passion is Photography.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My goal as a photographer is to capture the most immersive photos as I can. All I want from my audience, is for them to feel something when they look at one of my photos. Wether its sadness, excitement, fear… I want them to walk away having experienced something worth while. Maybe I can be lucky enough to inspire someone to travel to Tokyo at night, or try snowboarding for the first time…That is the most gratifying part of being an artist. I think the only way to achieve that is by being as genuine as possible. When I was starting to pursue photography seriously, and considering monetizing my work… my cousin gave me the best advice. He said, “Don’t be in a rush to make money. If this is something you love doing, pursue it and keep developing your craft and honing your skillset, the second you start doing it for the money it loses whatever it is that makes it special.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d probably do a fun bar crawl of all the fun speakeasy’s that Phoenix has to offer. Hitting the slopes at Snowbowl is a must! Let’s see… Definitely getting some wings at Murphy’s Law, followed by cigars and drinks at the Puro Cigar Lounge in Down Town Chandler!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout, goes out to my parents. Without their unwavering support I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today. Any success I achieve in the future, was because my parents guided me, and gave me the skills possible to make something of myself. I owe it all to my mom and dad.
