Meet Dani LaVoire | Midwife, Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Somatic Experiencing provider, Herbalist, End of Life Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani LaVoire and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dani, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The Midwives and Wellness Collective is founded on the core belief that collaboration makes a stronger community. As a midwife, a mother and a human on my own healing journey I have come to know that the work of weaving families into villages only happens when we have folks at the table who experience life from different perspectives, offer a variety of skill sets, and can take over so that caregivers can rest. The Wellness Collective is a group of practitioners supporting childbirth, naturopathic medicine, herbalism, mental health, end of life, parenting skills and pelvic floor heath. We offer a cozy space for the needs of this community to be spoken, discussed and met with the support of many hands.
We started this business after years of having unsatisfying experiences in the health and healing professions. We decided that if we find a way to show up for our clients and patients, while also feeling held in friendship and collaboration with our colleagues, we could begin to make gentle and deep change in the way people experience receiving care.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Midwives and Wellness Collective is about lifting up everyone who participates in growing the space. We work hard to examine the norm of competition between providers to gain clients, and rather reject the scarcity mindset that comes with this model. We work to grow a practice that lifts up everyone, creating more opportunity for success through collaboration.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Soup. The thing I get the most excited about is soup. After being up all night at a birth we love to stop at Taj Majal Indian Resturant for a bowl of yellow lentil soup with rice and pompadum. Peregrine Books is another spot not to miss, knowledgeable staff, wonderful reads.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Carrie Kinsey is my fellow midwife and partner on the journey to create the Midwives and Wellness Collective. Her clarity of vision and fearlessness is why we said YES to making this happen.
