We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Horzempa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started the Arizona Institute of Integrative Medicine I was deeply frustrated with the standard medical system. It became very clear to me during my medical training that the system really wasn’t set up to make patients healthy. Unfortunately, as everyone who is working in this system well knows, disease isn’t dealt with in a comprehensive manner and the patients continue to just get sicker and sicker. When I decided to leave the standard system, It was my goal to create a medical practice that looked at all aspects of a person’s mind, body and spirit to allow them to have robust health. This meant addressing nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, environmental exposures, social support and many more aspects of health that are often overlooked.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Arizona Institute of Integrative Medicine seeks to optimize the health of all of our patients. We do so by addressing all the important aspects of a person’s health, including nutrition, sleep, movement, stress reduction practices, social support, meaning and purpose, hormone levels, supplements/herbals/botanicals, and medications. Our goal is then to combine these diagnostic and treatment modalities into a truly personalized healthcare plan for all our patients.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to recognize Dr. Melinda and Caitlyn Connor for their amazing work. They have been amazing collaborators and are two of the most open thinkers that I know.
