We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Demi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I’ve heard that work-life balance is impossible, and I disagree entirely. Balance isn’t the product or outcome; it’s the feeling you get when you’re present in all of life’s sectors. How does that happen? Organization and habits!
There are so many methods and tools for creating structure around daily and weekly commitments. To create balance in your life, take inventory of how you spend your time and rework a schedule and lifestyle that promotes peace.
Perfection doesn’t exist! If you can accept that nothing is perfect, document everything, and create repeatable processes, you’ll have a pulse on everything and more peace of mind.
The most balanced people are content, while unorganized people live in a chaotic bubble where nothing ever feels finished. I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum, and my quality of life is far better when I create structure around each commitment.
Over time, I’ve learned to make my purpose my top priority and to be flexible and fluid with all my commitments. Nothing is more important than my purpose and my peace. I hone in on anything that becomes larger than it needs to be. Whenever my life feels imbalanced, I rework my schedule, reflect on my life’s deeper purpose, and change accordingly. Practically speaking, I rely on my physical calendar & to-do list, along with a handful of digital tools, to remind me of my tasks and important dates. I’ve changed the tools over time, but I have always kept the top priority: peace!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
If there were a book about my career and how it’s transformed over time, it would be called Grow for It! (A nod to my courage and business, GrowthFocus). I’ve always believed that if God brings you to something, he’ll get you through it. With every opportunity that comes my way, I say yes and figure out the details later, and it’s been the key to my success. Saying YES and going for it is challenging because there are always risks and unknowns, but the grass has always been greener everywhere I took a chance.

I’ve always shared my life on social media, allowing me to create a digital business card that led me to my friends, clients, and colleagues along the way. My most beloved asset is my personal brand. I’ve created a digital portfolio with a certain level of professionalism and uniqueness, allowing me to work with like-minded people and brands.

I was a virtual assistant who wanted to inspire more women to do what I did. I shared my story, which led me to create a course, sell my first digital product, and more. My career trajectory would have been so different if I had never shared my story online. It’s been the focal point of my career.

My digital persona has resonated with women because, despite the uncertainty, I didn’t have a grand plan and went for it anyway. I took every opportunity that came to me, and it worked out. I never thought I would be an entrepreneur or have my own business. Entrepreneurship fits you like a glove when you’re optimistic, good at pivoting, and willing to take risks.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite memories are in some of Phoenix’s most memorable locations. If you wanted to live your best Grow-Getter life in Phoenix, you would grab an iced honey latte at one of Phoenix’s many local roasteries. Then, you’d hit Scottsdale Quarter for some walking and shopping and grab lunch at True Food Kitchen. Remember to order dessert because life is too short. Stay at The Scott Resort & Spa for your evening plans and take plenty of photos with your bff! All of GrowthFocus’s images were captured on the resort grounds, with perfect photo-ops all around.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One of my mentors owned a copywriting agency. She taught me about business organization, efficiency, and quality assurance. I don’t know how she learned the methods she used, but I do know that they worked for scaling a business. Since I met her, she revolutionized my view on mentorship. We didn’t remain connected, but I’ll always cherish the lessons I learned from her. I suggest all aspiring entrepreneurs shadow people that do great work. Learn what others do and how they do it, try methods for yourself, and find your unique recipe for success.
