We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We started KaDaCa in 2020 as an outlet for creativity as well as a form of self care. We needed to be passionate about something and get out of the rut that quarantine put us, and we are sure others, in. It quickly, thanks to social media and word of mouth, turned into a “side hustle” aka small business and we haven’t looked back. We have since become even more passionate about supporting other small shops, local businesses, and networking with a community that is just as creative.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
KaDaCa specializes in custom epoxy tumblers. We turn ordinary stainless steel tumblers into beautiful, personalized, works of art. We use multiple mediums including acrylic paints, spray paints, alcohol inks, vinyl, & glitter to make a customer’s vision come to life. Each tumbler takes several days to make; for the designing/creative process and for the proper curing of epoxy. We take custom orders meaning we can personalize all aspects of your design to the best of our abilities. We always say custom tumblers make the best gifts because they meet the 3 best gift qualifications; 1) they are usable/purposeful 2) not typically something someone would buy for themselves 3) personalized. Keep those things in mind when buying gifts and we guarantee your gift will be cherished and appreciated.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We absolutely love Arizona! We love our little corner in the NW valley (Peoria & Surprise) and we would start there with a hike. Thunderbird mountain and Apache Wash trailhead are our two favorites. Lake Pleasant is a MUST! You can boat, float, or even just go for lunch at the marinas, both Scorpion bay and Pleasant harbor have great marinas. You can’t come to Arizona and not see Sedona, Cottonwood, and the Grand Canyon, they are easy day trips from Phoenix. Some of our go to spots are OHSO for brunch, Desert Ridge for shopping, Twisted Sugar for sweets, and “four corners” (lake pleasant and happy valley) for more shopping. Arizona has tons to offer and by the end of the week they would want to move here like everyone else! Haha
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mom and Dad for being the most supportive parents and allowing us to take over an entire room in their NEW home as the “KaDaCa HQ.” Mom (Cynthia) is the “Ca” in KaDaCa is officially part of the trio and our Dad is unofficially part of KaDaCa. He spray paints, takes packages to the post office, brainstorms with us, watches the grandkid and grand pup while we work, and so much more! We have been inspired by the whole tumbler making community but to name a few that have been impactful; Jessica Flynn @flynnsistersboutique and Mayra from @mayra_makes_it and also Ivette from @maestracreations are always sharing knowledge on Instagram and YouTube. Lastly but definitely not least, our families and friends for shopping, sharing, and supporting us in all ways! We have amazing customers who keep coming back and we just appreciate them so much! We get to keep doing this hobby turned passion because of them!
