We had the good fortune of connecting with David Quintero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
All my life I have been around self driven business owners. My mother had to do whatever she could to provide for my sister and I, so a normal 9-5 wasnt enough. As children, we would ride along with my mom to do demonstrations for kitchen cookware she would sell. My mother would make a mexican nacho dish to sell for lunch to the students at our private school to pay our tuition. My brothers started their own business when I was only a teenager. I saw the hard work and dedication that it requires. But I also saw the freedom to be your own boss and be responsible for your work and success. I actually had my own business, with my brothers help, when I was only 20 yrs old. That learning experience taught me the value of maximizing my time and maintaining my drive. After working for employers for 15 yrs after that I decided that I needed to take the plunge into starting my own business. It continues to be difficult. However ive noticed that persistence, personal responsibility, and drive has kept my business going. Although periodically I have had to work for employers from time to time during rough patches of the business, nonetheless I maintained my focus and continue to build my brand.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I grew up poor so I had to be creative in the things I would do in order to have fun. I read a lot of books and expanded my mind. When I was writing I took the same approach. Usually, the best things to write about were the real things in my life. And then having to visually create what I wrote and make it enjoyable not just for myself but for other people is how i pushed through the trial and error process. After creating the music, I also became interested in spending more time in the visual aspect. I released 7 albums under the stage name Dienamik and a band album under the name Mopar Bentley. Ive worked with many artists, local and mainstream, toured several times throughout the southwest region, and performed over 100 shows. I am the only artist in Arizona to film a music video in a commercial ballpark (Kino Sports Complex Stadium) and Ive worked with grammy winning Bone Thugs n Harmony member Bizzy Bone several times for multi entertainment projects. Soon after, I was both behind the camera and in front of it, working from beginning to end in multiple projects for myself and others. By using the brand ‘Dienamik’ and having it linked to all forms of art that I create I have maintained consistency. And now the brand ‘Dienamik, dienamikVISUALS’ is credited to over 1000 pictures and video of manstream artists. I, as Dienamik and dienamikVISUALS are linked with credit as an actor, director, producer, artist, writer, musician, photographer, videographer, editor, interviewer, podcaster, youtuber, promoter, booking agent, performer, and more.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has been the biggest mentor of anyone in my life. My mother and her tireless efforts to hustle and make ends meet was extremely motivating. My brothers as entrepreneurs, guiding me through their business, and teaching me financing at a young age aided in my financial responsibility. My sisters perservering through personal hardships and yet continuing to educate themselves, have a career, and succeed in their positions showed me to stay the course. Being around like minded individuals and having a strong and driven mentality, encouraged me to stay focused and keep working towards my goals. My mother came a long way and even though she is no longer here with us, her dedication to her family and relentless drive has resonated throughout my life and my family and we all know not to settle for anything less than what we deserve.
