We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Nevarez-Sandy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Crafting is something I enjoyed doing it since I was kid. My products started to gain notoriety and I got many referrals by word of mouth. It started as a side gig and around March/April 2021, I had enough customers to make it my full time. All my customers are organic since I have yet paid for any advertisement, my own customers send their friends and family my way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the things that sets me apart from other crafters is the technique I use to bling my work, it’s called scattered method and it’s a technique that requires more material and it is more difícil to accomplish but the end result is beautiful. I also schedule one on one consultation with each customer to brainstorm together about what they want and bring their ideas to life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Sonoran Desert museum is a must when people come to visit from out of town. The Spring is the best season as it is outdoors and you get to enjoy the beautiful weather. My favorite places to eat to bring my friends and family are La Cocina and Locale and for nightlife, IBT is always fun, the Drag Shows are very entertaining.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife has been an essential part of this process. Part of the reason I decided to leave my traditional job to make my shop my full time job was because of her encouragement. My sister has also been someone who has supported me and as a business owner herself, she helped a little bit with the transition.
