We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Resendiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, what do you want people to remember about you?
My aspiration is to create a lasting impression through my genuine writing. I want my words to connect with readers on a deeply personal level, resonating with authenticity. I strive to be a writer who fearlessly embraces vulnerability, honesty, and stays true to my unique voice by creating a body of work that fosters empathy and compassion.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I pursued an artistic and creative career because I have always felt a deep passion for creativity and self-expression. Art and creativity have always served as a form of therapy. From a young age, I was drawn to activities that allowed me to explore and communicate my thoughts, emotions, and ideas uniquely and imaginatively. My favorite artistic form has always been writing, especially poetry. I always dreamt of becoming a writer and publishing a book, but at that time, before the internet and social media became popular, I didn’t think it was achievable. Recognizing the transformative potential of writing, I wanted to build a community where aspiring writers could find the support, resources, and encouragement they need to share their stories with the world. My vision was to create a space that not only facilitates the writing process but also fosters personal growth and healing. Through my business, I hope to create a lasting impact on the literary world, encouraging more people to embrace writing as a means of personal and creative expression.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend on a road trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon to enjoy the beautiful views. Once we’re back in downtown Phoenix, I would take my friend to the Phoenix Art Museum, a Suns game or Dbacks game. I would take her to eat burritos at Testal Mexican Kitchen on Grant Ave and grab coffee at Mis Raices. After, we can walk across to Elements of Spirit to do some shopping. On different days, I would also take her to visit Fair Trade and Jobot for coffee, Taco Boys for tacos and Cheba Hut for sandwiches. We would also hang out at the rooftop bar at the Cambria Hotel. Lots of outdoor dining and sightseeing especially if it’s nice weather outside.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am blessed to have an amazing support system: my parents, best friends, and new artist friends who have taken me under their wing. I especially want to give a shoutout to Janine Hernandez at the Book Publishing Academy for her support during my book-writing journey and to Tomas Stanton at CASA Community Development/Righteous Kinda for introducing me to the power of spoken word poetry and helping me with my career as a poet.
