Meet Dr. Daniel Sluyk | Cosmetic and Family Dentist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Daniel Sluyk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Daniel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to do things differently. I knew that by having my own practice, I could structure it in a way that set myself apart from other dentists. I spent the first couple years of my career working for other dentists. I had some good mentors and learned a lot. However, I also realized there were many things I wanted to do differently. Since having my own business, I’ve been able to form it into my ideal practice. I focus on unmatched customer service and top-notch quality dentistry. It’s all about the customer experience for me.

What should our readers know about your business?
I chose a profession that is often feared by the patients it serves. I’ve heard countless horror stories of bad dental experiences. I am determined to change this stigma. I focus on giving my patients the best experience possible. So much goes into making the dental office a comfortable and enjoyable place to visit.

My team provides a personalized and genuine customer experience from the time you walk into the door. We have a beautiful office with all of the comforts available. We take the time to get to know the patient on a personal level and educate and communicate, with an emphasis on listening to the patient to better meet his or her needs. We offer various levels of sedation that helps our patients get the care they need in a comfortable and safe setting. I am also huge on staying on time, which is quite rare in the medical field.

The equipment we use is state of the art. My goal is to provide beautiful and lasting dentistry. I specialize in veneers and cosmetic dentistry. I absolutely love this part of my job. I’ve always loved drawing and sketching and I get to use my creative side every day. Seeing the transformations that take place when doing a smile makeover is priceless. The physical change is amazing, but the most rewarding part is to see the emotional change and confidence boost that a new smile brings to someone. It truly is life-changing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Scottsdale. I grew up here and wouldn’t rather live anywhere else. I find so much beauty in the desert, particularly the mountains. I love to hike. My dad and I have a particular obsession with the Thompson Peak Towers in the McDowell Mountains. It’s one of the toughest hikes, but the 360degree view at the top is incredible.

Volleyball is another favorite hobby of mine. I get together with a group of guys to play 2×2 grass volleyball. If you haven’t played grass volleyball, you’re missing out!

I also love to eat. Thankfully the valley has stepped up it’s restaurant game in the last several years. There are so many good choices and I love to try new places.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my mom. She instilled in me a mindset of excellence. She taught me that good isn’t enough, but always strive to be your best. My dad also taught me perseverance in the face of discomfort or adversity. Lastly, my wife and kids have encouraged me, supported me and motivated me throughout my journey of pursuing my dream.
