Meet Dr. Kim Harris | Naturopathic Doctor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Kim Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Kim, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I spent a lot of time working for other people and working in a female dominated business in the field of aesthetics is hard! Women tend to have a competitive mindset towards business and instead of helping each other succeed they will tear each other down in order to get ahead. I worked for several women in the area with this mindset and finally decided that I needed to just do it all on my own. I wanted to create an work environment for women in aesthetics that was positive and supportive, where we build each other up without ego and support each other’s successes. Prescott Medical Aesthetics is a team of 7 women that work together easily, where we promote natural beauty and work towards a common goal.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a naturopathic doctor and while some may think that this is out of line with medical aesthetics, I believe it gives me a very unique perspective on facial rejuvenation. Our patients come to us because they want to look good for their age- not decades younger. They want to look natural and feel good about themselves without looking fake and this is what we specialize in.

As I said in a previous answer, I would not be where I am today without the help of my business coaches. But having that guidance means nothing if you are not coachable and willing to put in the work. I dedicated 2 years to growing my business- and that takes time and dedication and consistency. There are so many aspects of being a business owner that you don’t even consider when starting and each area takes thought and effort to perfect. I am still working on it on a daily basis, even after 9 years in business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Prescott is an amazing place to visit! There are so many cool hikes, restaurants, unique shops and hotels. Plus we are just a few hours away from Flagstaff, Jerome, Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Arizona is such a beautiful place and I think people overlook northern Arizona because they think it is all desert.

I would take them on a few of my favorite hikes- Thumb Butte is always a classic short and sweet hike with good views and a good workout. There are hikes around all the lakes in the area as well that are easy and beautiful.

I would take them to a few of our favorite restaurants
Park Plaza Liquor Deli for pizza, sandwiches, salads and amazing happy hour prices.
Biga which is just the sweetest little local bistro with locally sourced food, friendly staff and great cocktails.

There are several museums around that have some interesting Arizona history, including Sharlot Hall museum that has the first Arizona governor’s mansion on site.

There is lots to see and do in the Prescott Area!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think the people that deserve the most credit in my story are 2 women that worked with me for 2 years on business development. Like most small business owners I came to it by accident- I never planned to own my own practice. But after years of failing working for others I realized there really was no choice- I had to get into business for myself. I stumbled on ND Catalyst, a business coaching team in the Phoenix area that changed my business and my life. Dr. Spice Lussier and Sara Fossen worked with my on a bi-weekly basis to completely overhaul all my my business practices. I would not be where I am today as a person, a business owner or a doctor.
