We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Kseniya Gershberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Kseniya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Empowered Mama Chiropractic back in 2019 because I wanted to help empower other moms who were either just starting their motherhood journey or were already in it but struggling. I wanted to provide support and easy access to resources for moms through pregnancy and postpartum. I based my business on the type of care and support I would have loved to have as a new mom. I honestly didn’t have the right support when I had my first son, so my dream was to create an Empowered Mama Haven. As the sole owner at the time and no other financial backing I had to be creative. I started inside one tiny room with low overhead and then expanded into a bigger office space after a year. The perfect recipe for business success is to pour your heart into it and truly love what you do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Empowered Mama Chiropractic DBA Empowered Family Chiropractic is a unique business model where patients get personalized care in a holistic way. We know each practice member’s name and their story. We have longer appointment times because we like to sit and listen to our patients. We do a lot of therapies in the office including bodywork-which is a specific soft tissue technique that addresses any muscle tension or inflammation, cold laser therapy, Graston Therapy, heart-shaped cupping, and so much more. We pride ourselves in really addressing the patient’s root cause and getting them faster relief. Our office is known for pregnant moms having shorter labor times usually a range from 40 minutes to four hours no matter if it’s a first time mom or repeat mom. We teach a range of classes in person and online, lead support groups for moms, and offer optimizing health through functional medicine. To be honest, growing a business is not for the faint of heart, it’s hard. Yes you can make your own hours but it’s not like you ever stop working. Being a business owner means putting in the work and sometimes pulling long shifts. You have to do the front office, management, and the patient care. It’s a lot but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I call my practice my third baby because of so much love and time that I have poured into it. I want the world to know that I started Empowered Mama Chiropractic to empower moms and expanded it to empower families because I realized when I first had my son, I really had no clue what to expect and the trauma of it all literally left me paralyzed. I vowed I wouldn’t let any other mom or family suffer the way I did and have established our services to create the best way possible to help moms & parents thrive through parenthood instead of just trying to survive it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town I would first take her to stop by and do some shopping and walking around at Scottsdale Quarter, I really love the vibe over there. They also have adult mini golf over there now that is tons of fun. Then we would head out to the spa at the Fairmont Princess. Their massages and spa accommodations are way beyond anything that I have experience before. We would end the day at one of my favorite sushi spots, Hiro sushi. If she is here for a week long trip I would take her to see beautiful Sedona one day and then the next we would head down to ride on the Dolly Steamboat. Arizona is so magically beautiful with so many places to go and see.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my parents for their support and always willing to watch the kids when I needed to do all of my professional certifications and building my business. Most importantly, they are always there when I need support, advice, or just to talk to someone how much being a business owner can be challenging. I would also like to thank my partner in crime, my husband, Dr. Russ. He is also a Chiropractor and always there to support me when I need to either travel for work, stay long hours in the office, or just ride the rollercoaster of business ownership together. It has been such a journey but I wouldn’t be able to do it without my family.
