We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Megan Daley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Megan, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Easy. Investing in myself. Personal growth directly correlates to all other growth, including business growth. And I’m not just talking strategic things like networking events, although the ones that mix in personal development are awesome and well worth the investment. I’m referring to everything from therapy, solo travel (which is a catalyst for figuring out who you want to be), to “spiritual” modalities like breath work and sound healing sessions, to things like what I do which is individualized coaching where the coach is a safe space and a reflector – meaning someone who can take your word vomit brain dumps about what you’re thoughts and dreams are, along with your specific background, and reflect back to you where the gaps are, where you are holding yourself back, what path is meant for you moving forward, and how to achieve it. And yes, I am really good at doing this for others, but like most of us, I need someone else to do it for me, so I’m constantly investing in myself for this.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets my life & biz coaching apart is the blend of western medicine and woo-woo that I bring to the table. The mix of a doctoral-level education and countless certifications across a very wide range of specialities alongside a deeply intuitive nature and an ability to rapidly dissect and process information (thank you ADHD hyperfocusing!) when it comes to working with my clients.

Everything in my business (the podcast Human On The Daley, my 1:1 offers that get you the 180 you’re looking for in 180 minutes, the upcoming retreats to bring you back home to your Self, the workshops I host for groups, events, and corporations, etc) is centered around helping high-achieving women in male-dominated industries breakup with overwhelm and regain their everyday energy and passion for life. To feel connected to the woman in the mirror again and to others. To gain clarity on what the next best step is in your career to get you to your dream life.

My decade+ background in healthcare, which is a very competitive male-dominated environment, is a time in which I climbed the “success ladder” and checked all the boxes, but it wasn’t without hitting burnout several times. I also lost myself during that time due to allowing “should”s and the conditioned belief that “there’s only room for one woman at the top, maybe” mentality to cause me to not only push too hard, but become disconnected from myself, unable to connect deeper with loved ones, and diminished energy outside of work.

About year 7, it all came crashing down when my dad was suddenly diagnosed with a terminal illness and given 3-6 months to live. I quickly left my job and flew across the country to be his caregiver for those final months. Needless to say, after his death, 2 things happened. First, everything snapped into perspective and I had no time or patience for things that weren’t truly important or for ME. Second, deep grief uncovered all of my limiting beliefs and conditioned patterns. It’s like it pierced through ALL of the layers and walls around me and exposed my raw authentic self.

Undoing this way of being and the beliefs that were keeping me from deep joy, ways that I didn’t even realized were there, was far from easy. In total, it took 4 years & an amount of money I do not want to say of lots of trial and error, of trying every kind of modality and therapy, countless coaches and journals, and multiple certifications, such as becoming trauma-and-somatic-certified (as I wanted to learn how to help others while also helping myself). It also took a TON of detaching my identity from titles, letting go of what others think, and learning how to listen to my intuition.

What I am most proud of myself is not shying away from that work, holding bulletproof boundaries, and taking everything I’ve learned through that process to turn around and help collapse time and money for other women. It’s what I do in my 180 sessions (in just 180 minutes!) and in my group offers and retreats.

No one makes it to adulthood as a woman without some conditioning and patterns that served you and gave you needed skills, but at some point, those are no longer needed and you’re left looking in the mirror wondering why you don’t feel fulfilled even though you’ve done “all the right things.” Whether that be people pleasing or perfectionism or being “10 ft tall and bulletproof” or something else. What I want women to know is there is a better way to live. You can be successful and happy and loved without sacrificing yourself and/or being exhausted all the time. And yes, you can connect with other women without it feeling competitive or catty.

You just have to deeply know who you are, what your values are, what success means to YOU (no one else), have the skills to stay regulated and hold boundaries (I have freebies around this! Boundaries are key!), and what you truly want in life.

I know that feels daunting. Simple, but far from easy. The good news is, you do not have to figure it all out alone. If you’re ready to live your best most authentic life, I’m here to come alongside you so you can figure it out in a fraction of the time and cost and introduce you to a deeply collaborative and compassionate community of like-minded women.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh! I’m a foodie and love the outdoors. Tough to narrow down, but I’ll try:

Activity musts for me are hiking Boulder Canyon, hiking Phoenix Mountain Preserve, paddle boarding on the Salt River and seeing the wild horses, Saturday morning farmers market (either Uptown or Gilbert), First Friday Art walk if possible or if not, Friday night at Buffalo Chip, trivia night at Sip, grab coffee at Berdenas and walk 5th ave / the waterfront, live jazz music at Kasmierz, dancing at the Duce, and catching every sunset possible.

Foodie musts include grabbing coffee & empanadas at Deseo Coffee Shack, dinner at Bacanora and/or Barrio Cafe if you can get in, tacos from Taco Chiwas, explore the too-many-to-name amazing coffee spots in downtown Phoenix (and explore Roosevelt Row and all the murals in the area), get the goat cheesecake at Love Craft, check out Coabana for a cool Cuban vibe, make a reservation at Platform 18 for a train ride through the Rockies, pizza at Cibo, fire pits & burgers at AZ Wilderness (downtown), and grab a drink at Little Rituals.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people have been alongside me on this journey, and I truly believe successful entrepreneurship takes a village! At the top of that list for me is Dr. Laura DeCesaris. She is my biz bestie, and the one that always supports my “wouldn’t it be cool if” ideas and holds me accountable. She was also the first one to jump on my mindset coaching when I pivoted from the clinic, and told me “don’t get me wrong,  you were a good PT, but THIS is next level. THIS is what you were meant to do.” Beyond that, the networking group where I met her and so many others in my tribe is Powerhouse Women. And then book wise – Untamed by Glennon Doyle gave me permission to be me no matter what others thought, Extreme Ownership taught me radical responsibility, and 10x Is Better Than 2x taught me to continuously go bigger.
