We had the good fortune of connecting with Dulce Meza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dulce, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
During the years of pandemic I found my passion. Breastfeeding was practiced with my little boy, however, I supported others moms and new moms to this excellent feed to our babies.
This type of support specially in Mexico is uncommon. Conforming I learned and searched information, I noticed that this type of support enlarged and filled my heart. I taken the challenge to study more and obtain certifications about lactation certification. My consultancies continue with moms and a group was created to support all the moms and new moms in this beautiful but tired phase of baby life. Because is common to listen being a mom is the most beautiful but never is communicated o shared the difficult phases as the breastfeeding.
In this new passion I found how I want the people remember me: She was always willing to help no matter how long or how difficult it was. This legacy, is also practice in my current role as Quality Engineer, because, I like to support a new people that is hired and introduced in the company. That we all shine makes me happy.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For my current job, at beginning of my career, was not common that women developed in the industrial, but with the time, the inclusivity and diversity cover the industries and more opportunities were found. However, work with people or managers that have different vision or is difficult for them work with women, the challenges are big, because must be demonstrate that we are capable and that the women’s can be a leader as a men’s. I finished master degree to development other skills and tools that can help me to show me as resource that can obtain an important position, these challenges, was very difficult because the time was reduced with my two kids, however, everything is possible with the correct supports, in this case my husband.
On other hand as lactation consultant is really difficult with current culture, I need to challenge at the moms, and complete families to understand about breastfeeding. Also when the health sector is not pro breastfeeding, is more difficult. In Mexico is less common , obtain help and information regarding to this topics then other countries. However is so gratifying when I support a families to start and continue with breastfeeding, and when these moms recommends my consultancies, this action makes my heart grow.
As we can see, in each profession have challenges and difficulties, but when will want to make history, when we want different things must be make different things.
I want the people remember me by my support given no for my person, if not for my love and joy to help.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend visit me, probably I will invite to Tombstone because the travel is beautiful in car, so green and excellent views. Also I think a camping day in Mount Lemmon results a good place but this place is better in winter, with the snowy mountain.
A good dinner will be share with my best friend in some buffet of Arizona.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely without the support of my husband, my success can’t be possible. He always support me and encourage me to be better. He learned about lactation with me, he share my history and always remember me that excellent person that I’m.
My kids that always waiting and understand my time spend in my current role as Quality Engineer but additional to this the time spent in these consults as lactation consultant My princess and my little boy have a big heart to share me with the rest of the world.
Also my mom and my father that what they taught me values and constancy with my dreams and goals to be obtained them, no matter what only my happiness.
