Meet Early Bird | Rap Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Early Bird and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Early Bird, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Buffalo, NY. I grew up on the East Side of Buffalo. My mom and dad have largely impacted my life and have contributed to who I am today. They are both motivated and work oriented people, which has influenced my work ethic. My parents love all types of music, which has inspired my interest in making it. My older brother is really the one who got me into rap and hip-hop.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started off making music in two different metal bands, which both broke up. I’ve always wanted to rap so in the middle of being in my second band I found my engineer (Shawn Hudson) who sent me a beat and it was pretty much my thing from there. At first rapping was frustrating because I could not get to the point of wanting to listen to my own music. I threw out a whole EP and plenty of other songs because they weren’t up to my standards. My single “Deep Sea” was a song that kind of let me know I was on the right path. This song came out in 2020, which helped me grow my sound from there. The first song I felt like was more of where I wanted to go with my sound is one of my singles called “Pop.” From there I really started finding my own sound and started incorporating a melodic vibe with my rapping. At this point I feel like I’m starting to create a sound even though I continue to try other styles. I feel like experimenting is important so I don’t get stuck in a “box” in regards to my sound. Along the way I’ve learned to cherish connections, that it is important to stay open minded, and it is essential to work with others. In regards to my brand I 100% write for myself and hope that others can pick up and connect with whatever emotion I am expressing whether it is happy, sad, angry, frustrated, etc. My latest single is “A Lot” which is my best song and best music video to date. It’s streaming on all platforms!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend was visiting I’d take them to whatever show is going on that day/night. Buffalo has tons of talented artists and the music scene, especially rap scene, is only getting bigger. I’d show them all around Buffalo including the east side, north Buffalo, the west side, Elmwood, and Allentown. In regards to drinks I’d definitely take them to The Pink, Hardware, and Gypsy Parlor. Buffalo has so many spots for food we’d go to Street Asian Food, Breadhive for a breakfast sandwich, Daddios for pizza, and Wing Kings for wings (Buffalo has the best pizza and wings). We’d definitely stop at Alchemy Studios where I record at to show them how my recording process works.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shout out to my family, friends, and everyone who has supported me along the way. I wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my family and friends. My mom, dad, brothers, and sister have supported my music since the very start and that boost has helped tremendously. I’d also like to give a shout out to my friends. I have friends that literally come to every show if they can make it and it means the world to me. They know who they are! I’d also like to give a shout out to my engineer, Shawn Hudson (Alchemy Studios). He is someone that mix & masters my music as well as someone I get tips and ideas from. I wouldn’t be where I am without his help. He has been essential in my writing process.
