Meet Edmar Rodriguez | Flooring contractor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Edmar Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edmar, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve seen the struggles my dad had to go through. I thought to myself that I couldn’t let that go in vain. Him and my mom came from Mexico to give my sister , brother , and me a better future. I feel like the sacrifices they made have to be paid back sooner or later. I first started working for a flooring company my dad was in when I was 16. I would go work every summer with him at his job. I seen the things he had to go through. I also didn’t graduate , so I thought to myself I have to do something with my life . The idea of starting a decorative concrete business came , which was my dad did for 20 years and I did for about 5 years.
Another reason is that I have people depending on us back in Mexico. I see how bad our family struggles back in Mexico. I want to make a way for them to make money over there too. Eventually if our small business takes off , I want to invest in other ideas I have in mind. I want to maybe make a restaurant or store for family we have in Mexico to live off of. These are the major reasons behind stating my own business.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think what sets us apart from others is that , we care about our clients satisfaction. That’s our number one factor for us. I’m proud of this investment and the future of it. I believe in myself. I will be investing even more into it. I picture myself doing really big projects in the future , maybe even spreading the brand onto another state. I had to separate myself from friends for like a year and a half, to focus on myself and what I wanted to do in life. I saved up some money during that time period and invested into equipment and a LLC . A lot of people think you made it because you started a small business , but it’s really not like that. There’s a lot of disappointments along the way a lot of thoughts of quitting, or saying if it’s even worth it.
I would like people to know that I do this for the art of the industry I’m in , but most importantly for my family and close ones to me . I want my future kid to not go through the things I went through growing up. I want to be a great example for people of the Phoenix area , that there’s a lot more to life then the things we see here. There’s a lot of opportunities to be something in life , as long as you keep the right mindset and people around you. If the people around you don’t have the same vision as you or there holding you down separate yourself. We only have one life to be great and I plan on leaving my mark.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I personally like going to south mountain, enjoying the views , and hiking. Another place would be tempe town lake , which has great views too. Flagstaff, Sedona and Payson are also very beautiful places to hang out and vibe to the views. I’m a simple person when it comes to eating I like Wing stop , canes , Mexican food or pollo loco.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my girlfriend Cassie , I feel like with the right women any man can achieve anything. Before her I was on bad path . She motivated me to change , and just do better , look forward to more things in life then what we’re use to in maryvale. I appreciate my friends also for rooting for me.
