Meet Eleanor Rodriguez | Athlete

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eleanor Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eleanor, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking has always been a part of who I am, and I believe that taking calculated “smart” risks can lead to great rewards and growth. Throughout my life and career, I have embraced opportunities to take risks that align with my passions and have ultimately led to my personal and professional success.
At the age of 13, I decided to skip high school and go straight to college to pursue my interests, and despite the perceived risks and challenges, I graduated with Honors from the University of Arizona at 17 years old. Following my passion for dance, I competed as the only American at the prestigious Genee International Ballet Competition, which required significant effort and risk.
Later, I returned to college and graduated from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University in December 2020. While balancing my desk job as a financial advisor, I also pursued my growing passion for archery. I took the risk to quit my desk job and fully dedicate myself to archery shooting, coaching, and social media, which has paid off tremendously.
Although there have been failures and learning lessons along the way, I believe that nothing is more fulfilling than pursuing what I am truly passionate about and not settling for a comfortable, safe life. I live for the thrill, enjoyment, and happiness that comes from taking risks that align with my values and interests.
In summary, I believe that taking risks that align with one’s passions can lead to personal and professional growth and fulfillment. By taking calculated “smart” risks, I have achieved success and pursued a life that excites me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an archery coach, shooter, and social media influencer, I am passionate about promoting the sport of archery and inspiring others to pursue their interests and passions. What sets me apart from others in my field is my my social media platforms where I share my journey and experiences with others. It is exciting to see others become inspired to pursue archery and grow in their skills and confidence.
Getting to where I am today professionally was not easy. There were many challenges along the way, from balancing a desk job with my passion for archery to overcoming self-doubt and criticism. However, I overcame these challenges by staying true to my values and passions, seeking support from mentors and peers, and continuously learning and growing in my skills and knowledge.
In summary, my background as a professional ballet dancer, my interests in weightlifting and health, and my unique educational background set me apart from others in my field. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on archery training and coaching, and have allowed me to build a successful brand and inspire others to pursue their passions.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting the area, I would want to show them the best time possible by giving them a mix of fun, interesting, and exciting experiences. I believe in the importance of work-life balance, and would want to show my friend that it’s possible to have a great time while also taking care of yourself and pursuing your passions.
Over the course of the week, I would take my friend to some of the best restaurants in the area, including local favorites like Durants, Can’t Stop Smoking BBQ, and Carolinas. We would also try some new craft beers at breweries like Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. and The Beer Shop Co.
To balance out the indulgences, we would also take advantage of the great outdoors in Arizona. We could go hiking in the Grand Canyon, camping in Sedona, or spend a day boating on Saguaro Lake. I would also take my friend to some concerts by some of our favorite artists.
Overall, I would want to show my friend that Arizona has so much to offer, whether it’s through its natural beauty, culinary scene, or cultural experiences. By balancing out our time with both fun activities and self-care, we could make the most out of our week together and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to my parents and Coach Mike Cullumber for the love, support, and guidance they have given me throughout my life. My parents have always been there for me, providing me with unconditional love, encouragement, and a strong foundation for my personal growth. Coach Mike Cullumber has played an integral role in my athletic success, believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself, and pushing me to achieve my full potential. I am grateful to have such amazing people in my life, and I want to thank them for everything they have done for me.
