We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Nilsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to pursue an artistic career because I know the impact that my art can have on an individual that doesn’t create. Seeing the reaction on a clients face when they see something that I made for them is what keeps me consistent. After being creative through all of my childhood, being able to benefit financially from my talents is a dream I didn’t know that I really wanted.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As being a creative is a side hustle for me apart from my full time job, it still comes with its challenges. Fitting in large jobs on my days off is the most rewarding yet challenging concept for me because you can see the piece come together quickly with proper time management. What sets me apart from others would have to be my client relations. Establishing a relationship opens the table to rough ideas into a piece that satisfies the client beyond their initial expectations. I am happy to take creative freedom for those that do not know what concept is right for a space.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Places to visit – Papago Park
– Superstition Mountains
– Phoenix Art Museum
Places to eat and drink
– Bread and Honey House
– Provision Coffee
-Zipps Sports Grill
-Kahvi Coffee Shop
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate the launch of my business to my family and other local business owners in the valley. Alex Bautista, owner of The Cut House Nutrition, was my first paying client that encouraged me to create a central page for my art as well as create a logo and brand imaging.
