We had the good fortune of connecting with Emilie Waight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emilie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always loved to help others. Rather it be holding a door open, directing someone in the right direction or sharing a motivational thought with them. When I lived in Texas, I worked in the oil and gas industry making 6 figures. I had 5 credit cards, a off-road utility vehicle, a truck and car at some points. I was almost to an 800 credit score. and that was pretty good considering I had no one that thought me nor did I have the best mentors around to help guide me financially. After not having the car nor utility vehicle anymore, I decided to be spontaneous.

Not giving to much thought and research, I made the decision to relocate to AZ. I went from making 6 figures to less then $40K for the year. My credit, as you can imagine, took a massive hit. It hit 380. I did a lot of researching, studying, and hustling to make my score be back to at least the 700. Then that’s when talking to co-workers and strangers, that I seen how many of us struggle with credit, budgeting and savings. Unfortunately, these are very important topics that we are not taught in school.

That’s when I decided to start Top Tier Credit Consulting, LLC. I want to help repair and also educate my clients on how to maintain a good score. It’s not just paying your bills on time. There’s more to the equation.

I do get clients whom, like myself, had very good credit at one point, then a moment came and went. Now, they need help fixing and a little education on how to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I enjoy helping them. Once repaired, they are on their way to getting that new home, car or loan.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am most proud of the fact that I stepped out of my comfort zone and started a business. I always have wanted to be a business owner, just not knowing what industry. It was not easy at all. Your credit score is needed for everything now of days. Even for a job. So, imagine rebuilding your credit and trying to get a business at the same time. You win some, you lose some. I have so much passion in what I do, and being able to help someone get that dream home, or car is what kept me pushing.

Top Tier Credit Consulting, LLC is a small business. I have the up most respect for my clients to be able to come forward and say “Hey, I need help”. Some people just play the part with having bad credit and high interest rates, etc. I go up and beyond to help them and also get results on their scores. I have been in their situation. It’s not something we ever think would happen to us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
From the time I relocated here, I have always loved the 202, and 101. I love the scenic routes. So I’d definitely take them for a ride around the whole valley to see the mountains (where I’m from, its flat). I take them to West Gate for the food and entertainment. We’d go to Top Golf and stop by some Casinos. I’d say Talking Stick. That one has been my favorite. When it’s food away from WG, Barrio Queens and Crackers and Co. are my top list. Barrio Queens for evening dinner, drinks and the vibe. I enjoy the downtown Gilbert location. Crackers and Co. is my top choice for breakfast and lunch. The Southwest Skillet is a must try.

Lakes. Lets talk about how many lakes there is. I had no idea how many were near by. I’d be taking my visitor around the lakes. I haven’t done paddle board suffering, but it’s on my list.

Of course there is Payson, Flagstaff and Sedona to also add to the list of mini road trips.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have a credit repair mentorship community on Facebook that I am part of. It’s people from all across the nation. To many to list.

Then there is my husband. He saw my drive on fixing my credit and helping others. He is also the one who suggested that I start my business.
