Meet Emily Hill

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor to my success is my commitment to show up grounded and fully present with my clients. This helps me to listen to and understand my clients better. We all need to feel heard and be validated. When I am present I can be a witness, advocate, coach, resource, cheerleader, or accountability partner. It’s important to me to create an environment where my clients feel safe to show up as they are. Safe space is a necessary precursor to transformative healing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
While I make an effort to highlight the journey of health, I am very results-oriented. My number one goal is to support my client’s desired outcomes. As an occupational therapist, I am trained to assess health, identity barriers, and provide solutions.
I call my approach “Hands-On OT”. I use techniques hands-on techniques like cupping, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy and manual lymphatic drainage to restore flow in your body. I empower my patients to be hands-on with their own health through personalized self-care programming. I encourage people to get curious about their own stories and invite compassion and creativity.
As you can tell, I absolutely love my job! My clients inspire me every day.
My message to readers is this: You are powerful and capable! Also, we aren’t meant to do hard things alone. Sometimes we need that extra lift… let’s explore your physical stress patterns and whatever storied emotions are dimming your shine.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really love Tucson. If a best friend was visiting, I would take them to all the gorgeous natural spots nearby. We’d rock climb up on Mt. Lemmon and splash in some water at the Tanque Verde Falls. The arts scene is another thing that really makes Tucson special. I’d see if there were any street festivals downtown. We may do open mic poetry and take some fun pics of the murals at Hotel McCoy. We’d check out a painting class at The Drawing Studio and go out dancing at DJ Herm’s monthly Passport party at Z-street. We could get delicious Ethiopian food there and healthy, yummy meals at Govinda’s and Tumerico.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my patients/clients, my kids and husband, my teachers, every coworker I’ve had, my siblings, my parents, friends, and people who show up authentically and enthusiastically.
