Meet Emma Angell | Life Coach & Tutor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Angell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emma, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of the most important factors that has contributed to the success of Skipa is how fluid our services are to the needs of the community around us. The one thing that stands to be true about all of our clients is that no two are the same. By embracing this, and letting our coaching and tutoring services tailor to each person, our clients leave sessions feeling understood, motivated, and encouraged.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Skipa revolves around tutoring and life coaching for clients of all ages and abilities in the greater Phoenix area.
I am most proud of Skipa from the way we are able to meet people where they’re at, whether in their schooling situation or in life! When it comes to our tutoring services, we are able to come along side whatever learning modality the client has chosen (i.e. afterschool tutoring, homeschooling environments etc.) and enhance those learning opportunities for each individual client. Every person has a different learning style and Skipa’s goal is to learn what that is for each client and present the material in a method where real learning can foster. Our life skills coaching is a great resource for people who may be struggling with keeping up with everyday tasks or have big life shifts coming up. Whether it be executive functioning skills like time management and organization, transitioning jobs, or needing an outside source to help hold you accountable to reaching your goals, Skipa is a great resource for achieving that next step.
Building a brand and a business is never an easy task. It demands hard work, dedication, and most importantly, the ability to listen. Listening to clients and their needs, and trusting my intuition and background in Behavioral Health to guide me to the next steps, has been the greatest risk and reward I’ve experienced in the past five years of business. Learning to trust in my skills and abilities has been one of the hardest things to do as a woman owned business. It’s a lifelong lesson that pertains to all other aspects of my life and I am so grateful to be able to learn in this way.
One take away I would love for all of my clients to carry long after their time with Skipa ends is that they are capable of achieving anything they put their minds to. I hope they leave Skipa dreaming big with the tools they’ve acquired with Skipa supporting them on their journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When the weather permits, I highly recommend spending time outside! Hiking (Piestewa Peak is my personal favorite), lake days, and afternoons at a park are all things I really enjoy. When I’m on a trip, I love visiting art museums and the PHX Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, do not disappoint. Glai Baan and Gracies Tax Bar are two of the best places to enjoy some food and drink in the valley, in my opinion! I love checking out a local bookstore when I’m traveling and Changing Hands is a great local bookstore/bar in town!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shoutout to the amazing clients and families that have stood by me as my career and business has shifted over the years. Without their support, understanding, and feedback, Skipa would not be what it is today.
