We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Pechtel -Pool and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up in San Diego, Ca in a home with parents who have always been very loving and supportive of my dreams, and my various forms of art and businesses. Both of my parents took a huge risk by moving from Wyoming to California in the 80s not knowing one single soul in California. They both started from scratch with their careers and climbed mountains to achieve what they did not only professionally, but also personally and relationally. My mother was a nurse who worked her way up during the course of her career, leading her region and was an incredible boss, mentor, and friend to many impacting not only her region, but her community. My father, the creative, ran his own business for decades as an honest business man with not only great craft and skill, but wonderful integrity. As they are both retired now, they can hardly sit still, constantly on the move to enrich their lives and those around them, pouring out love and creativity. I would not be where I am today with these incredible role models, supporters and friends. They have taught me much about working hard, what it means to have integrity within your work, going out there and getting what you want, following your dreams and loving this world and the people in it. I very much believe that what we have experienced as humans shapes us, and what we are inside spills out into the world and the people we interact with. It is not lost on me – the sheer luck that was bestowed upon me for the two humans who made me and raised me. The support, the roof over my head and the love inside our home. The privilege that comes with all of these things is one of my deepest, most purest of thanks, it is something I truly think about regularly. It was and is with that foundation that I have been fortunate enough to build upon. I am very grateful and will use my life paying it forward, allowing my gratitude and love from within to spill out to my work, my life and brighten this pale blue dot. Thank you Mom and Dad. You are soo very loved and appreciated.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business was born from the heart to create, but also from necessity. At one of the most challenging times of my life, a period in which I lost everything, I found myself at a crossroads, on the floor in deep despair. Looking down the road, I knew what I wanted for my life and also what I did not want. I looked at who I wanted to become verses who I knew I would never allow myself to be. I knew it would cost me everything, and what little I had left inside of me, but I had to do it. I called on the strength I had within and pulled it to the surface. I got up off that floor and began my journey as a full time, self employed creative, a business owner who would stop at nothing. 12 years later, many of lessons under my belt, projects that I had always dreamed of, a career full of magic, and somehow that fire still lives within me. There have been many times that I wanted to give up. This journey has been one of the hardest of my life, but it also has been the most rewarding. Built from the ground up, I very much take pride in what I do, what I have created and built. I means everything to me. Someone once told me that “often times business can not be personal” and I deeply struggled with that. I struggled with that because everything I make, create, build comes directly from my heart and soul. I am not here to build an empire, I am here to pour out with integrity what lives inside of me. And today, I use that heart and soul to help others. Whether that is helping someone create a brand, website and means to live out their dream professionally and get paid to do what they love, or create their dream space, I am here to use the things that were planted in me with a deep passion to help others bring light to their corner of the globe. I am deeply grateful for whatever it is inside of me that pushes the engine to go go go, always reaching for the next big project, goal, partnership and dream, for all of the hard work to overcome the fears, the risks and the falls. But mostly, I am grateful for the opportunity to be in this space just as I am and serve my clients who trust me with their dreams.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is a divine little French restaurant called Francine that a dear friend sent me to. It was such a special experience to dine with the person I love and feel whisked away for a moment.

As an Anthropologie Veteran, I always make time to visit the Scottsdale Fashion Anthro to be inspired by displays and the workings within the shop. As someone who spent years in the windows, walls and everything in between, I certainly appreciate the work that goes into a display made of 5,000 paper birds all cut by hand just to give you and I the experience for a brief moment as we pass by.

There is a little slice of Heaven called Civana just outside of Scottsdale. It is a magical oasis of wellness. From their classes to their spa, this program is brilliant and very much can revive any human.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Over the years I have had many incredible friends and mentors who have lit the way and held my hand. The community of women I have knit around me have given me hope when I could not see it, light when I needed it most, and a kindness I shall never forget. They have inspired me and loved me more than I deserve. My sisters, you know exactly who you are. I certainly want to shout them out. They have offered invaluable advice, wisdom and support. Other than my biological parents {as mentioned above}, without a doubt I would not be where I am today without my “Nashville Mom”, Teresa, who helped me achieve a degree in business via the real world, teaching me, mentoring me and educating me through many paths. Talk about standing on the shoulders of a giant. What a privilege to learn the ropes beside her. Cherish. Last, and certainly not least, my partner who always pushes me to be better, even and mostly when I am not in the mood. You refine me, test me, and love me. Thank you.
