We had the good fortune of connecting with Felicia Rials and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felicia, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is very scary but so important! This helps you grow. If you don’t fail you don’t learn! With great risk comes great reward right? In 2015 I had a baby, went back to hair school after getting a BA in fashion merchandising and marketing and up rooted my family to Los Angeles just so I could persue my dream of becoming a celebrity hairstylist. It was the most scary thing I’ve ever done, i assisted for almost two years making min wage in LA with a husband and baby, working 7 days a week over 8 hours a day, pinching Pennie’s. With that being said it has made me who I am to day in my professional and personal life and I would do it all over again!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After Covid hit I moved back in PHX from LA ( I still GO back to LA every 8 week) I couldn’t go into a salon in az! It’s just so different from la and I work different, so I decided to open up my own little studio, which still is hard every day! Coming back here with no clients having to rebuild is never easy, but worth it cause now I get best of both worlds! What sets me apart is that I refused to get wrapped up in the fake social world we call social media! Yes I do it, but I can’t stand the standard it has set ( actually hurting in a lot of ways) the industry. This industry has always been hard but it makes it another level of hard. People are already disloyal, and I can’t stand people Who have no loyalty just because they see something on social media then they come back! ENOUGH!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them up north to Payson for a few days and when we are in town go to central Phoenix or downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well I wouldn’t be here with out the support of my family that is first and foremost, but the my mentor that made me who I am in my business life is Michael Sparks. I assisted him for almost two year very in depth and i Learned everything i know today from running a salon, a traveling hairstylist life, set world, and in salon life from being his assistant ! I worked my butt off for two years to gain as much as I could! He always used to say you are that assistant that will take away 98% of everything he does down to the final HAIR!!!
