We had the good fortune of connecting with Fien / Olivier De Paepe / Meuris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fien / Olivier, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We always wanted to work for ourselves and doing it together. This has been on our mind since we were in University, so we slowly worked towards this career path while studying and getting our master’s degree. We both knew we didn’t want to work in the field of our diploma but we wanted to have a degree as a back-up plan, which we think is important. (Fien studied Journalism & Criminology and Olivier studied Architecture).

So after graduation we both took the leap and went on a six month trip around the world: the goal of this trip was to create a career and lifestyle out of this, so it was not like a six month vacation or anything, we worked every single day, but enjoyed it a lot! That’s the thing we don’t want a life where you work a 9 to 5, buy a house, live for the weekends etc, we want to work while enjoying this beautiful planet and believe us we work more than a 9 to 5 right now but it’s for ourselves and we have the freedom of traveling where we want, when we want :). It’s still a work in process but we trust that if you want something bad and you work hard enough for it, you will succeed!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We create photos with a vintage vibe. In the beginning it was not easy to create our own personal style, it’s something that develops along the way and it’s important to practice everyday. Lots of people give up so easily, when the reward doesn’t come straight away, but the most important thing is to keep on going.

We went on a six month trip around the world and visited countries such as Indonesia, Greece, Jordan, Turkiye, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand, … We took photos and videos every single day and that’s how we found our own personal style and became better in it every single day. In the beginning we really had to search and see who we are as persons, what we want to represent, how it reflects in our art, etc. But now we can truly say that we found our vision (and it still develops everyday, that’s the beauty of It).

The story we want to tell with our photography and videography is mainly to showcase the beauty of our planet and that we can’t take things for granted. A lot of people look forward to their travels and forget that there’s beauty around us: for example a beautiful sunset. You don’t have to go far to witness a sunset, it happens every day, you just have to go outside more often and look for those little things. We also showcase the love we have for each other in our videos and photos.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to thank fellow creators on Instagram who start supporting us from an early stage, they loved our images & vision and are so genuinely supportive. We’re inspired by them every day. We love that there’s a community of travel creators on IG who support each other and lift each other up, it’s truly the best. Examples are: @victo_somewhere & @ema_outsider, @yakeandmarie, @aimeebell, @travelmonster.nl, @northsouthtravels, @pedrofcarreira, @reispackers, … and many more :).

That being said, we want to thank every single person who’s interested in our journey and takes time to interact with our content, we couldn’t have wished for a better community.
