We had the good fortune of connecting with Frances Temple and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frances, how do you think about risk?
Risks can either leave a positive or negative impact. With taking risks usually it’s me going above and beyond for others. Doing for people what others wouldn’t. It makes a difference within my lifestyle and career. You show respect, integrity and that you care when it’s not what you see every day in a work or home environment. There is teamwork, guidance, and patience. Risks can also leave a negative impact if you don’t carry those values with you where you go. We’ve taken a few within our business with rushing with excitement! It can be a great opportunity or it can crash and fail but as long as you have the will and the drive to keep going. The risk is worth taking with the end resulting in success and happiness!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve worked with food my whole life. Started in a restaurant while also trying to graduate highschool. I went from hosting, cashiering, and serving. Struggling with the slow days when we didn’t get customers. That was the downside of waitressing, you depended on tips. And when there’s no customers , there’s no money. I worked hard every day doing 13+ hour shifts. The tables others didn’t want I took. When team members were struggling I took it upon myself to help in making sure the guests were satisfied and taken care of. After graduating highschool, my mom had got me into the hospital she was working at. I worked in the food and nutrition department. When I say it was a game changer in the food industry, it definitely was! It gave me more confidence in my work. More pride and I learned and received the opportunities that I never could at a restaurant. I’ve provided for cancer patients, and gotten so many compliments on my work ethic and patient care. It’s the feeling of knowing I made that persons day by being able to bring them a hot meal, or something different when no one else has offered it to them. You go extra miles for others and believe it or not you will get recognized. Always stay positive and keep your head up even when you don’t feel as confident. Positivity will always win! Plus negativity just brings people into uncomfortable situations. No body likes that!
With our business, 2Lesbians & A Truck! , we want to bring that comfortable vibe back into the food industry. Let every one feel welcomed and respected! I can say from all my experiences working at different facilities, management, is the main problem. Communication can go a long way.
Listen to your employees!
Take your breaks!
And just breathe!
Living up to a successful career takes a lot of understanding and dedication. Don’t give up on the really hard days! Those are the ones testing your growth. Stay strong and keep your head up. It’s only moving up from where you are now, remember that!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Westgate would be my first stop in the city to enjoy the outdoors and get some drinks and food. Then we would take a trip to Sedona and get fresh air and beautiful views while we make our way to slide rock to take a cold dip in the water ! We love to hang out and have drinks so Mill Ave would be our last stop.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I just want to shout out to not only my business partner but the love of my life, Anisza Moreno. She’s put in so much effort and support with our business! She’s accomplished so many great opportunities within her career and life and she is definitely someone I look up to. She’s taught me how to grow as an individual and to stick up for myself. I’m lucky to have you in my life!
