Meet Gabriel Eyamba | Art Director & Stylist | Boutique Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Eyamba and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think about risk in a positive way. Risk is what creates reward. Without risk there wouldn’t be any drive as one wouldn’t be pushed to step out of their comfort zone. I believe risk allows me to grow and progress forward in my career. High risk, high reward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe I have individualized myself from my peers from my direction and approach to my projects. My consistent use and push of film in a digital heavy commercial market space.
I got to where I am today by consistently taking any project to allow a door to open for me. This gave me a ton of experience while expanding my portfolio at the same time. With this expansive portfolio I started posting content on multiple social media platforms every 3 days for the course of a year and half. Allowing the algorithm to push my work letting me tap into new with new creators and clients.
It wasn’t easy creating my own storyboards to pair with look-book directed by me. Providing the wardrobe for these projects and capturing the project. I stayed persistent by being consistent even if the work didn’t match the prior pedestal and working within multiple mediums.
Lessons I’ve learned is to always retrospect and reflect back to my younger self “what would 18 year old me think of how far I’ve came” this analogy is almost like a mantra. Life is a marathon not a race, keep steady and strive on is my biggest take away.
I want the world to know that my art spreads and embraces the essence and power of femininity, illustrating hyper femme and high glam styles paired with the androgynous masculine and high formal looks. By showcasing these style mediums I hope to open the narrative of stripping away these constructs centered around women and their femininity. Opening discussions around and embracing various ideas of femininity.
Along with my brand, Hot Spotting Boutique, provides the hottest spotting of vintage, retro and modern wear. Our curation allows others to express themselves through our garments based on which curations we have bundles together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of my friends visited for a week. Id have to start their mornings off with either Barista del Barrio or Mercado Square. One of the best breakfast joints, if you know you know. Id follow up their lunches with something light from either Time Market or Co-Op off 4th avenue. Close their nights with dinner from either Tuk Tuk Thai if feeling asian cuisine or American Eat co food court for variety.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest shoutout has to be my grandmother, Araba Martha Vroom. From being the first Miss Ghana to modeling in multiple fashion houses campaigns. Her career has inspired me to embrace the arts and one day become bigger household name than her. From pushing me to always take risks and never given in to the noise, I give my career to her.
