Meet Genesis Salkind | Photographer & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Genesis Salkind and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genesis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The reason I wanted to start my own photography business was not only because I wanted to be my own boss, but because I want to spend as much time as I can with my daughter. I don’t want to miss the important milestones because of having to work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, growing up I’ve always had a love for the arts. I was the artistic child in my family, always making videos, painting, doing arts and crafts or just simply taking pictures. I’m very driven to get to my goals, I’m self taught in everything I do. I love being hands on, learning from experience not from a teacher. Growing up I was told my dreams were not realistic, which only pushed me harder to prove those wrong, it took my awhile but I’m finally living my dream.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I myself am a introvert, but I love just walking through places that have lots of people. Like the mall, downtown Gilbert or mill avenue or even just a park. I love seeing all different types of people from different walks of life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my husband for inspiring me to do what I love! He showed me that it doesn’t matter where you are in life, you deserve to do what you need to, to be happy.
