We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg Minor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Greg, what role has risk played in your life or career?
There is literally no reward without a risk. Personally for me it was a risk just moving to Arizona. Originally im from Kentucky. I was there my whole life, playing basketball. I wasn’t highly recruited but after graduating high school I was a walk on at a small university in Indiana. I ended up making a name for myself there on the defensive end on the court and aided in making school history by helping my team win the 6th conference championship in a row and going to the final four in the national tournament. After that season I was no longer on the team. I was a drop out, I just started working to help put food on the table and just start life without the sport. After being out of school for 2 years of working at the physical therapy clinic in Louisville. I contacted my uncle who lived in Phoenix and asked if it was ok to move in with him. No to mention every junior college coach I reached out to either didn’t respond or wasn’t necessarily interested in me. So, when my uncle said I can move in with him. We drove from Kentucky to Arizona non-stop, with little money I had saved and no guarantee of me actually being accepted into a school or with the help of any coach. We made it to Arizona and I was able to go to a community college that not only set me up for success but taught me life lessons and made me into a better person. Thank you Coach Bunker for everything.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ive played sports my whole life. When I finished playing basketball after college I didn’t know what to do. Then Covid-19 hit in 2020 and changed everything. So when the pandemic happened I played a lot of video games and started streaming on twitch. After awhile I started really growing my community, tons of viewers wanted me to create a TikTok. I wasn’t interested in creating it at all, but im glad I did. I was introduced to working actors and producers in the industry because of my content that I created. Little did I know I would fall into this realm of entertainment and it would be the best thing Ive ever done.

As an Actor its never easy but you have to be available because you never know when the next audition will be or when that call when come. I worked full time for an insurance company, while pursuing acting full time. I remember having to schedule time off to go to auditions and when I didn’t have any time off work.

I went to an audition at 10am, and had to come up with an excuse to get off work for an hour. When I arrived at the location for the audition, I did my thing and came back home. A few days later I had to leave work again for the callback. I came up with a separate excuse this time. So I go to the audition and do my thing and head back home. The moment I log back into work at home, I got a call to come back to the audition. It was a 2nd callback in the same day. So I logged back off from work with no paid time off and on the border line of getting fired. So, I drove all the way back to the other side of town to the callback-callback. I ended up getting the role as the customer in the Jersey Mikes National Commercial.

Ive learned so much thus far, but at the end of the day you have to believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself then who will. Go after what you want, and you’ll be surprised how far you go. I want to be the best actor I can be, by not only challenging myself but to inspire others to follow their dreams and uplift one another. Im now a full time actor and I’m not turning back.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First place I’d have to take them is to Yogurtland. I love some frozen yogurt, especially in this heat. Arizona has lots to do, we would go down to Maricopa to go skydiving. Hopefully they aren’t afraid of heights. I have a few go to places for food here in the valley, like Genghis Grill, The Ostrich, Unos Tacos y Birria, but my favorite restaurant would have to be Osaka. There is a lot to see here as well from Sedona, the Grand Canyon and we can even go fishing in payson. I have a nice spot in Payson to fish, the last time I was there I caught 9 fish. We’ll for sure have to go to the movies before they leave. Im no cook but I did start grilling, so ill have to grill some steak for their last night. Ive been told I have some of the best steak out there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family they have always supported me and my journey no matter what I wanted to do. They were always there to pick me up and encourage me to keep going.

Coach Mark Bunker, he took a chance on a kid from Kentucky when most schools did not. I consider him a true friend and mentor. What he does for his players is remarkable. He treats all his players with respect and as family. Every year no matter if you’re a 20 point a night guy or if your just cheering on your teammates.

Michael McNally (Athletic Director) and Michelle Tash (Student Success Coordinator) both welcomed me into scottsdale and treated me as family. Both have guided me through the process of college. They are truly great people and Im thankful for crossing paths with these wonderful folks.

Carla Howey, my acting teacher. She has really gotten me out of my comfort zone for sure. She pushes me to be better. She doesn’t sugar coat anything and will tell you as it is, and I admire her for that. She is the reason I know I will do great things. She is my biggest inspiration and im truly honored to have her training me to be the best actor I can be.

Ruth Leighton my agent, she also took a chance on me, when others did not. She is a hardworking and very determined. I saw a lot of myself in her. That’s why I think we get along so well and she was by far the perfect fit for me. I could have asked for a better person on my side during this journey.
