Meet Guinevere | singer/songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Guinevere and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Guinevere, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
The smell of flowers in the first days of spring, my hair unkempt after a wild trip in nature, walking barefoot, being in a care-free creative process, seeing my mum busy with her garden, my dad sharing his guitar ideas with me, eating soulful food, the idea of floating on the surface of the water, being on stage, a deep conversation, making tea knowing that I will not drink it, post-lunch naps, being able to finally see/hear/touch something I’ve been working on for a very long time. I don’t know why, nor do I feel the urge to understand it, but it makes me feel so fulfilled.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Nothing was easy. I think the easiest part was writing songs and imagining things around them. When it comes to being creative I’m a universe in continuous expansion, ideas flow through me effortlessly and make me feel excited and motivated. But between the world of ideas and the final product, there’s an ocean of obstacles to overcome. Collaborating with people is awesome but can get very difficult and frustrating at times. We’re all different, we all have our stories, our wounds, our traumas and we share all of it while working together. If you’re not mature or impermeable enough it can become sometimes unbearable and energetically draining.
The compromise between the ideal vision and the actual available resources is tough, it’s a constant inner battle between what you’d like to make ideally and what’s physically possible. Also, the music industry is a messy business. There’s a lot of competition, toxic behaviors and lack of support coming both from the people working in the industry and, sadly, sometimes the artists themselves.
I don’t know how I made it through all the challenges I’ve faced, I guess the love, respect and absolute devotion I have for music goes beyond everything.
Being on a solo career is teaching me a lot though, and I’m so grateful that it does. It’s teaching me the importance of taking a break, and how to be transparent with others while expressing my needs and boundaries. It’s also showing me that it’s ok to be vulnerable sometimes, and it’s also ok to allow other people to see it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many, too many. A big project happens only with the help and contribution of the people involved. In my musical path, I had the great honour of collaborating with incredibly talented artists who supported me along the way. All of them allowed me to be where I am today and to be able to keep on going.
The full list would be too long, but among them: huge shoutout to Damon Arabsolgar, a poet, a musician, a songwriter, and an artist who deserves the world. His music and poems remind me that life is beautiful and worth living.
Dana Tescari too, go check her out! She directed both my music videos and took most of the pictures of my last EP, she’s an incredible photographer whose talent goes beyond words.
Last but not least, Alessia Lattanzio and Alice Guariso! they designed and created the costume I wore for “The Waves Are Calling Us” music video – one of the most fulfilling collaborations I’ve experienced so far.
