We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Briscoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always been a creative person. I actually obtained my bachelors degree in Interior Design and worked in the Interior Design industry for about 6 years before starting my wedding photography business. Interior Design is very creative but it also has a “corporate” feel to it–I worked for a few larger companies and sometimes felt like my voice wasn’t heard. I also felt like I never fit the mold of a “corporate” lifestyle. I’ve always been a free spirit and never liked to feel confined to one way of thinking. Starting my photography business let me free the creative side of me and helped my confidence so much–as a little kid I would draw and create art but I never felt I was good enough. Having a successful business in something creative has really helped me realized my talent for creating art!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One aspect of my business that I really value and I am proud of is my inclusivity. I always try to attract clients who are authentically themselves. I want to photograph you as you, and no one else. You are unique and beautiful in your own way, and I want to photograph that. I personally have struggled with self-esteem challenges (I think every woman has) and so being able to show people how wonderful and beautiful they are through photos is such a wonderful thing. There are so many wonderful photographers in this industry, and I love connecting with others that also value authenticity and who want to capture their clients in a “real” way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay, first we would go breakfast at Over Easy, their breakfasts and brunches are *chefs kiss*. We would then go to the Desert Botanical Gardens because the desert has such a unique beauty to it. Then, we would hit up lunch at Pizzeria Bianco; their pizza is to DIE for. Then we would go to Pop Stroke and do some fun mini golf with drinks, and then we would go to The Neighborly and have their butter cake for dessert. Obviously a lot of my fun revolves around food–I’m such a foodie!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people have inspired my journey in starting my own wedding photography business! Although, I have to give a huge shoutout to my husband who has supported me during this entire journey. He has been there for my successes, my failures, and all the in-betweens. He is my rock and I could not ask for a better partner.
