We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Olson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted something for myself, and I wanted something more for my family. I have always worked to exhaustion for larger companies with minimal work/life balance and no real opportunity to make additional income or feel like I was helping anyone. I have been into skin care my entire life and I have wanted help others feel their best, but I didn’t know how other than giving advice based on treatments/procedures I had done. Then Jet Plasma Pen fell into my lap, and I realized that I could help people feel their best without invasive procedures. There is nothing better than feeling good about yourself. I get to provide that to my clients, and I can provide more for my family.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from some of the others is that I work full time, I have a daughter, husband, and a full-time career, but I am also running Restore The Glow. I am doing this so that I can better our lives and put smiles on my clients’ faces. It has not and is not an easy road. I have learned that you must give yourself grace. Things aren’t always going to go your way, especially when you are introducing something as new as what I am offering in a state that I have only lived in for 16 months. I work around the clock, but there is something about making people happy that drives me to keep going and to make this business full time at some point. I am proud that I am doing this and doing this all by myself (with the support of my husband of course).

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
All the farmers markets! There are so many of them here and I feel like they all offer something different. The coffees, the smoothies, fresh meats, and vegetables, along with other homemade foods and apparel. Next would be Roosevelt Row. The area is just so full of life in the form of art and food. We would need to go to Cham Pang Lanes as I feel that place is super unique. We would also check out Old Town Scottsdale and park and walk to stop and have some food and drinks along the way with more shopping as again, that area is super unique. She loves to shop, so Fashion Square is a must and I love locally sourced restaurants, so we would visit Herb Box and Sante’. If she were here for the holidays, we would go to Fairmont Scottsdale for their holiday events.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
That would be my husband, Matt Olson. I came to him with the idea to start this Jet Plasma Pen business and he had me give him my best sales pitch with all the reasons why I wanted to do this and what it would entail. His immediate response was, “the entire time I have known you, you have been helping people with research on skin products and procedures. This is perfect for you, and it will be great for us”. He was and has been so supportive and continues to my person to bounce ideas off and vent to when things are overwhelming for me.
