We had the good fortune of connecting with Iesha Rowan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Iesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Damon Ellison and I have been laying the seeds for habarientertainment.com for years by informing people through all social media platforms on current events, places, and things going on in the world by engaging with others’ opinions on all topics such as politics, health, technology, and entertainment. During a time when “Fake News” and common distrust was prevalent in society we began to realize that the world needed a news source created by everyday citizens, for everyday citizens. We established ourselves by being original and not copying the everyday news cycle readers scroll by each morning. That’s the main focus behind our motto  “News our way”. So, we began podcasting with Danyo and Tita which gave us the visuals and technology needed to start and build a location of our own to host other podcasts and shows.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
First, what sets us apart from others is the use of digital technology to share and build the news by going live on various social media platforms with podcasts news articles via our website www.habarientertainment.com. We’re most proud of our website and our location that we have built. We’ve gotten where we are today by dedication, hard work, getting our education and making sacrifices. Was it easy? No, it wasn’t but with long days outside of our normal jobs and becoming parents and the help of our supporters we were able to overcome difficult challenges. One of the main lessons we’ve learned along the way is to have a strong support system. We stand for informing the public with news and information that they can trust. Every time there’s breaking news, we want you to tune into Habari Entertainment and learn not just what happened but the accurate reason and what it means to you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first place I’d take my best friend would be the top of South Mountain before heading to eat at Monroe’s Hot Chicken. Afterwards, we’d attend an event at the Desert Botanical Gardens before heading home to relax by the pool. The next few days would be spent shopping at Athem Outlets or Mills Mall, we’d catch a movie at AMC theater by Desert Ridge and grab drinks afterwards at The Citizen. We’d also check out one of Arizona’s festival’s such as the Aloha, Caribbean or First Friday in downtown Phoenix.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I’d like to shoutout my husband for co-founding habarientertainment.com with me. Then, I’d like to give thanks to all those who have been detrimental to helping us get to where we are today. Danyo, Tita, Iroc, Kelson, Huso, Jimmi, Nico, Elijah, Von Rebel, Brad Fox, Michael Johnson (2ToneDaSupastar), and all of our guests.
