Meet Isaac Ford | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaac Ford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isaac, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I feel my love for experimentation has greatly benefitted me as a musician. This includes the structure of the music I write and arrange with my band Remedy Rx as well as the tone of my bass guitars.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I try to create art that focuses on hitting people on an emotional level. I put myself in a vulnerable place when writing my lyrics which made it very hard to share my work in its early stages. I think this is what makes my music my own, it isn’t written to try to capture anything other than my thoughts and feelings.
I have recently started working full time as a musician and it’s certainly hasn’t been easy. In the midst of trying to complete school and master my craft it’s hard to keep up with all the gigs while trying to make a living. To be honest though there’s nothing else I’d rather do, I absolutely love music and I think it is an incredibly powerful art.
Over time I have become more open minded to the power of other arts while I used to think of music as being the end all be all. I think as artists it’s important to appreciate each other’s work and creations, no matter if it’s acting, painting, dance, or other forms. If we artist don’t support one another who will? And the answer to that is terrifying to me.
If there’s one thing I want to make people aware of in my art and bass playing it’s that I always try to have intent in everything I do musically. This way an artistic engagement is prioritized rather then simply plugging in notes.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve had the opportunity to play at a place up in Wickenburg called the Palomino. Let me tell you they have the best fries I’ve ever had in my entire life not to mention the people in Wickenburg are some of the kindest people I’ve had the opportunity to play for. After listening to some of the live country music at the Palomino I probably would have to prioritize a trip to Sedona to visit some of the attractions they have to offer. One of which would have to be sliding rock which is just as beautiful as it is fun and if you haven’t been yes…it is pretty much just sliding off rocks
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Zoe has been the most supportive influence in my path as a musician and as an artist. She has encouraged me, challenged me and has invested countless hours into helping me achieve my dreams. She has a great mind and meaningful insight.
