We had the good fortune of connecting with Issachar Lee aka Healer Of Wallets and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Issachar Lee, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Basically, what started my journey as a content creator was seeing such a gap in understanding how finances worked. Sure, you had folks trying with finance content of their own but even among my own family when I would talk to them about it, it would fly right over their heads. As soon as I would give my own spin, add my flare, jokes and analogies, they were able to quickly pick up the info and even had fun in the process.

This is what spurred my journey, I wanted to give financial education a new light, a new outlook that makes it more engage and fun to learn. And break it down in a way that a 5-year-old can understand the concepts. I feel financial literacy is so pivotal to so many people’s lives and in order to get to that next step they need to jump off that cliff. I’m just trying to be the guy that gives a friendly push and a pair of wings with my content.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So how did Healer of wallets begin? It started off with a few friends of mine asking me some questions about stocks and how they can start investing I would spend hours on messenger trying to break down in the simplest way possible how to open an account, fund it and pick a stock… They didn’t get it. So I ended up making a video going over the process but I didn’t want to make it longer than a minute so I cut it up, added some jokes and dropped it on Facebook and tagged them in it so they could hopefully get the hint. What happened was actually unexpected the video started to get tractions form people I didn’t even know, saying thank you for breaking this down, wow this was so easy, bro you literally just saved me ours of research.

So from that point I had an idea to start uploading just a couple videos here and there going over concepts that were super complicated and trying to break them down. It kept growing and growing until 1 day in May I did a breakdown of how banks are scamming folks out of millions with savings accounts and overnight it got a million views. That started a summer of what felt like a wildfire of growth on my Instagram and social media outlets going from 200 followers to 153,000 all tuning in for my funny, witty breakdowns of finance. That made the subject fun and enjoyable to listen to and not so ridged.

This led to many asking for an even more in-depth dive into these concepts which spurred my creations of the “HEAL MY CREDIT” course which teaches young adults that may have made some credit fails in life how to get rid of those things on their credit and scale from 500-800 in 90 days. I dropped a pre-registration page which is still churning sign ups and look to officially launch early 2023

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Probably a hike in the morning through White Tank Mountain Regional Park, I like to get active early to start the day. Then hit up Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles for a bite to eat because I can’t turn down good chicken and waffles and those are to die for. Maybe visit the Wrigley Mansion or Heard Museum. I’m into sight seeing and culture so I’m always around places like that for inspiration. Hop on a conference call with folks int he finance industry to network and dive into some topics then finish out by seeing if there are any live performances going down .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Who in encourages me? That’s easy my family. Without them I dont think I would have half as much motivation to be where I am and continue to grow and I’ll tell you why. Times haven’t always been the best, there have been hurdles and obstacles along the way that I honestly still shudder to think about to this day; finances in the toilet, credit in shambles, car broken down, and no real blueprint to get out of the rut. I’ve been down on my myself, but the ones who have kept me focused, driven and determined have been them. Them seeing me as a guiding light invigorates me to move further. I do it all for them. They’re my source of inspiration.
