We had the good fortune of connecting with issie victoria and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi issie, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I think when it comes to trying to find the reason as to whether you should continue to pursue your dream or to give up, you need to be honest with yourself. The acting industry is hard and it’s not just hard to get into but hard when on the job. I’ve found times on set where i’ve had to take a break because it gets too much. Sometimes it’s a question of ‘Is this really what I want to do?’ but the answer seems to always be yes. No matter how draining it gets, I do it because it’s my passion and I have to accept that there are such things as bad days. It’s also extremely tough when trying to book jobs, being judged on your appearance, personality and ability is incredibly challenging and it takes guts to put yourself forward. However, what’s right for you isn’t right for another person and what’s right for another person won’t be right for you. The message that I like to keep locked away is ‘everything happens for a reason.’

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It’s definitely been a challenging journey. From being a little 6 year old wanting to appear on the big stages of the west end to being thrown in front of a camera at age 18, it’s quite a big difference that I had no idea would effect me so much. When performing live, it’s done there and then. When acting for camera, I struggle most with my appearance and being so self critical of my acting ability. I’m not quite sure how many people know this but I struggle with bulimia so having to juggle body positivity and body dysmorphia when going from job to job is extremely tough,

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favourite place to go would have to be the beach. The smell of the classic british fish and chips filling the air is what makes me the happiest. I find watching the ocean so fascinatingly mesmerising and I could spend forever and a day on the beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I couldn’t have made it this far in my journey without my local theatre company and Theatre Royal Plymouth, Young Company.
