Meet Jacob Wandel | Aerial Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Wandel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacob, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started photography at an amateur level in the beginning because of the simplicity of capturing a favorite moment in time and being able to look back at it. However, as I improved my technique I started to take it more seriously. I found a fascination with being able to show people different perspectives. With this in mind, I came up with the idea of sharing my work with others and giving them the opportunity to see these moments. Ultimately, this led me to starting my own photography business where I sell my prints online and also in person at events.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Starting my business wasn’t easy. It required me to think outside of the box and be creative in order to stand out from others. Aerial photography is something that not everyone sees everyday or even knows what it is. I use a professional grade drone to capture high quality photos from perspectives that most people never see in their life. This unique perspective is what sets me apart from your average photographer. Each photo you see is one that was taken by me as well as edited. I believe each photo shows a story about that day and that event which is what makes it so unique.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sedona, Arizona is somewhere that I would argue is as beautiful as the Grand Canyon. Many people don’t explore the vast number of unique locations it has. If I had to recommend a place, this would be it. It also is filled with many unique restaurants and shops that are fun to see while visiting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of my biggest inspirations to want to start a business and share my work comes from my girlfriend Lara Hazlett. She has been my biggest fan of my work and has pushed me to want to improve and do better not just for my business but as an individual as well. I also want to thank my parents, Natalie Wandel and Daniel Wandel, for giving me some resources at a young age and inspiring me to do great things.
