We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Richards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Growing up without a father and women showed me potential paths I could take and family decisions to make. Working a full-time commissioned job, keeping a “sometimes paying” hobby, Community volunteer, and leader, Many firsts included first black woman in Ontario to be voted Chamber Chair of Eastern Ottawa Chamber of Commerce. I was also a single parent raising a little girl. I was told I was doing the impossible. My response. “I have family who have done much more than I.” In 2003, after a successful Corporate conference, I had difficulties walking and writing. After a quick call and appointment with my GP, “Jacqueline, I think you have MS, get the hospital for these tests.”, Multiple Sclerosis. Incurable and wheelchair-bound. I have things to do. I believe. I continue to teach group fitness and take my little girl skiing. I continue to be an accredited mortgage specialist and teach financial focus via my book, Yoga for Your Personal Finances. Practical and Spiritual Solutions for Financial Health”, afraid to breathe and off balance with life. You can never outgrow a good woman in community politics. So I continue to help us all have a voice.
My little “Grown-up” girl is an entrepreneur, winning the 2023 Business Woman of the Year and raising a beautiful son. I do not need a cane. I am Able.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Answers to questions is how I overcame doubters and nay-sayers. Life is Stressful. Sometimes invisible:
To complement my NLP (Neuro Linguist Programming Practitioner) designation, I have Health and Life Coach clients to assist them in their journeys.
Life is Stressful. Sometimes visible:
In many industries, people spend much of their time sitting slouched behind a computer. Helping companies with Wellness programs incorporate Chair Yoga for their staff. and provide workshops for personal nutrition and home financing.
Life is MisAligned:
HiTech and software developers come in all sizes, colours, countries, genders, and religions. For every dollar “He” makes, “She” makes 70 cents. As the co-Chair of Women in Communications and Technology, women have the right to make the same. I use tech and I teach money.
I Am Possible and Dream Do Come True.
